Snag #3 for anyone who is counting...

My translator in Thailand says he can only put his "Stamp" on the back of the document.... blah blah blah... I can live with that...

Now I have found this on VJ:

USCIS Document Translation Policy

Per the USCIS, documents not in English must be translated. The policy states as follows:

"All documents that are in a language other than English must be submitted with a translation. The person translating the document must certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that he/she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English."

All translations must include a statement similar to the following:

Certification by Translator:

I typed name , certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and

languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the

document attached entitled .

Signature

Date Typed Name

Address

Ok... so, I can probably get him to re-certify the Thai Birth Certificate using this format...

I tried doing due diligence and checking the USCIS website for specific guidelines... (anything to avoid the RFE) and on the USCIS website, I find the following...

I was in Guilin about this time last year for a couple of weeks at the Sheraton near the "2 rivers - 4 lakes"... Don't forget to bring a Jacket... (I flew there from Thailand and had to buy warm clothes)

I've recently noticed a funny thing about those links... they sometimes work! I was just able to follow the first link the OP posted, but I have experienced the same problem before.

When you just *know* you've got the link right, try it again a bit later. I think their server gets bogged or something.

Nid had hers done at the USCNET Translation Center, 4/56 Sukhumvit Soi 21. The translator just stamped the bottom of the page with a blue-ink stamp and signed it ... I guess it was good enough to get thru VSC because we did not do the USCIS Certification by Translator and not sure what your particular adjudicator will want

Whats a "competent translator" for USCIS? Someone with a degree in English and the other language? Or someone whos very fluent in English?

I'm starting my I485 and I130 process, and some little details still confuse me a bit! :oS
