Hi dwheels

Thank you so much for answering me again. I did not ask specifically about Australia but she seemed pretty uncommunicative. To be honest I had the most terrible headache and felt physically sick at the time. I have just been to bed for a couple of hours and feel a little better. I am not sleeping and the whole stress of it is taking its toll. I have two teenagers who are banking on getting home for Christmas and that dream is fading. I am trying so hard to keep everybody's spirit is up. Will just have to wait and see how it pans out.

msc13, I am so sorry to hear about your story. This geographical separation when it involves keeping children far apart from one of their parents is just heartbreaking and such an unecessary hardship for all of you to bear. Hold on, you will be all toghether again one day soon. My children are much younger (2&1/2 years old and 7 months old) and even in my situation I am often at the point of tears trying to cope and make it to the end of this process. I had my interview finally on Monday (after nearly 15 months since we sent in the I-130), and nearly 5 months since the last time my husband was able to travel here to see me and our little ones, and when the consular officer said approved at the end of the interview, words cannot even describe what that means to us. I wish you all of the luck in the world to get to be "home" for Christmas.

Best of luck to you for a painless interview and a happy outcome! I'll be thinking of you

We landed in Montreal today, I'm typing this from our hotel. Husband's medical is tomorrow, just a quick walk from here, after his appointment that will be one more milestone reached, with 3 big ones left (interview, house sale & POE)

Things are starting to get REAL!!!! At last :-)

JeffNJazz, how is your time in Montreal going? Did you get your medical results back yet? Good luck on Friday! I am not sure if you saw my review yet or not, but the regional police cert wasn't an issue, but as mentioned it did have a box ticked referring to no matches in the rcmp database. Good luck on Friday!!

Austin, I gotta tell you, Christmas at 85F is really really strange for THIS New Yorker. Can't knit hats and mittens for anyone! "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" doesn't quite fit the mood, unless you are trying to describe the awful forest fires (bush fires) that occur here in Australia.

But I think ANY of us would hate to be apart from our loved one(s) at a major holiday time - no matter what side of the "pond" we're on.

MSC - they only schedule interviews on Tuesdays in Sydney - and I'm pretty sure that the Christmas-to-New-Year break will be a no-go.

We had only 27 days from notification to interview. I think the average for Australia (at the time we came through) was about 40 days.

Crossing my fingers for you!

Hi Sukie

Thanks for this. As Austin said I may hear Friday or next Monday. As with all things NVC it is out of my hands. There is nothing I can do to influence the process except wait. Fingers crossed though.

Enjoy your time Down Under.

Don't worry - no one has to pay anything at the interview.

You will pay the $165 in order for the physical green card to be generated. Look for "ELIS" in the instructions. Most people get a sheet from the embassy or consulate explaining the ELIS fee. We did not, but we knew we had to pay it!!!

Hello Everyone,

Visa issued!

Embassy was quite smooth, with a scary moment.

Arrived at around 9am for 9:15 appointment. We were sent directly to the window where you get your number for waiting in line and give medical exams envelope and any other missing documents.

The person took our medical envelope, we could already see "Approved" stamped in the file. She explained (incorrectly) that we will need to remove conditions from the green card on out two year *wedding* anniversary, but then said that since I (the petitioner) have been living abroad for 4 years we probably won't get a visa until I go back and live in the US for at least 6 months, "unless something changed in their procedures, but the CO will explain". My wife said I turned purple at that moment.

We sat down again waiting for fingerprints for which we were called about 5 minutes later, it was about 9:15 at that point.

Then about a 30 minute wait to speak with the CO. There were three people who were waiting before us, with earlier numbers, but we were called in first, so I guess the number order or "first come first served" does not apply.

The CO was a very nice lady.

She asked the beneficiary the following questions:

- How did you meet your husband?

- Do you have kids, how many?

- Are the kids USC's?

- Have you ever been to the US before?

Then she asked me (the petitioner) what steps I took to reestablish domicile in the US. I had all the documents attached with my AOS but she did not look through them, at least not in front of us.

I told her few of the main steps I have taken.

She then said that everything looks good, your visa has been approved, you will receive your passport in 2-3 business days :) What a relief!

We were done at exactly 10am, 1 hour from entering the embassy to leaving the embassy.

Just finished with my interview at the Consulate. I answered all questions correctly, at the end of the interview she said she said she needs more time to review the case file and then she gave me a contact form and asked me to go and fill it and drop it off at a submission center or scan it to them. I asked her how long will it take them to complete the process, she said it depends on how soon i can quickly submit the form.

**** All thru the interview, the CO didn't type anything, instead she was writing it down on a piece of paper. I wonder why?
