drivers license expires soon (split topic)

This is my problem right now. We live in California and my husband's green card expires soon and so does his driver's license. They WILL NOT honor the immigration letter that extends his status for a year so in a few days he won't be able to drive. So frustrating! Called USCIS and told me to make an appointment with INFOPASS but there's nothing available. Said to keep checking everyday so we can get an appointment at the immigration office. Now we have to figure out how to get him to work.

Have you tried going to a different location to renew his DL?

Check ur state laws. Some states allow renewal with passport stamp of I-551

I looked it up for you and I think they should accept the extension letter and the expired GC.

My DW's CA DL expires 1 year after her conditional GC expires. Like the previous poster has mentioned, if you have the NOA1, your PR status is extended for another year. You should be able to renew your DL. If they don't let you, ask to speak to a supervisor.
