I am assembling my I-129F packet and am trying to follow the K1 guide but was wondering do we really need a full page on the declaration....---->

4. Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page regarding question 18 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it.

My short description seems to fit in the box on the I-129F and was thinking that having an extra attachment is just something else for them to misplace....

Has anyone just said something like:

"I met my fiance in August, 2005 while vacationing in Thailand when I walked into the salon where she worked. After a few days, I asked her to dinner. We dated for 3 months. I returned to the USA to work. We kept in touch. Later, in December of 2006, I returned to Thailand, we were engaged, and now I want her to come to the USA to marry me."

I am not sure what else I am expected to say... Sure, I love her, she is amazing, we have similar interests, we can't wait to be together all the time, blah blah blah... but none of this technically describes how we met...

I just stuck to the facts and that was just a few sentences long. It fit in the box on the form. There is another thread about this, so if you look back far enough you may find it. Or you could search the forum. If I remember correctly, some just put the basic details and some wrote more. Some who wrote just a few sentences with the facts were also approved. It doesn't have to be a page long.

It does not need to be a novel. Hit the high points and the facts and be done.

YMMV

Nobody said you need a 'full page' - but you may find that the explanation you want to give might be a bit too long to fit in the space on the form, in which case rather than shorten it, you could attach an extra sheet. What you've put there sounds fine to me - we only put about three or four sentences on ours, just briefly explaining how we first met, and then the time we'd spent together since, etc - but we used an extra sheet rather than cram it all into that space on the form. Our petition was approved, so I guess it must have been ok!

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Kendall,

I think what you wrote is perfect.

I had a friend proofread mine and she'd say "who cares, take that out"...

I didn't include any lovey dovey stuff.

Thanks for the help... I will see if I can fit something similar into the box on the form... One less sheet to lose...

Maybe I should say something like:

"In accordance with the PAPERWORK REDUCTION ACT AND PRIVACY ACT NOTICES" - "2005, Thailand, hair salon, we met, we dated, we loved, we want to marry"

Thanks again... one more question answered!

What you wrote is exactly what they are asking for, specific dates, specific places you met IN PERSON. So your paragraph is virtually verbatim what they are asking for, and you just need to make sure your passport stamps match those two meetings, and dig out any documentation for the two trips to Thailand, proof you were in her city, and/or proof you were together at those times. The site guide has a great list of items which suffice for this evidence. Plane tickets, ATM receipts, hotel bills etc. to name a few.

Good luck on your journey!

I included an additional sheet explaining how we met, the fact that I paid for nothing while I was there as he accommodated me, and the reason why I have been unable to visit him again do to the passing of my mother in October and I am in my last semester at ASU. Hopefully it worked, now I am waiting for my NOA1.

Good luck to all of you!

Glad I read this post! Due to the fact that I write, and tend to be verbose in my speaking and writing, my statement resembles a short story. But thanks for the kick in the butt to take out all the frou frou stuff.
