My fiancè who is in Kingston, completed the DS 160 on Thursday Oct 30 even though he has yet to receive a packet 3. I gave him instructions I got from visajourney. He emailed them the confirmation number and passport copy and they sent the automated response email. It said that he should receive an email within 5 days. It also stated that beginning March 2013 they only accept visa fee paid in person on date of interview. Its very frustrating to read all kinds of different instructions but I guess we should know thats typical Jamaican govt format LOL

Exactly.....I saw that info too about the fee but since they emailed me the wrong info and I paid it online they gonna accept it. Got confirmation of payment so I'm not paying again.

"Typical Jamaican govt format" Speak di truth!!

He had to renew his passport so we are going to wait on that and send everything in together. Things moved so quickly, now its going to take time to get all his documents together. He has everything of mine already.

Yes I thought we would have a little more time between NOA2-NVC-Consulate. Getting documents from Jamaica is no easy task. It will come together. I really didn't want to bring him here mid winter anyway.

Jamaica gov. has NOTHING to do with USA Embassy procedures

or timing. don't lay this one at their feet, every decision is with the US

including the doctors a person have to go for medical

I wasn't referring to any of the embassy procedures, I've known what they require since the beginning. My comment was in reference to obtaining the needed documents from the Jamaican entities, i.e. the RGD, police station, tax office, etc. Its no easy task and my fiance has had to go back and forth many many times. I was there when he went to get his police record, we went back and forth and it took until 2pm. He had to go back twice to check up on it. the 7 days turned into almost 30. I understand many records are not electronic as it is here in the USA. It's just difficult to time everything, So it is what it is and we are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish this goal. If he has to run all over Jamaica....So be it!

I know about that police certificate issue. My then fiancé had to run all over as well, and ended up having to go to Kingston to get it. I had to call the Kingston office and talk to a worker. He told me that they only mail to the local offices when they have a stack, so although you requested expedite, it is finished but not mailed.

Okay my bad,,people having to deal with the Doc system in JA I would

say if not in Kingston plan to just go there, pay for Police record in Kingston Mall

walk over a few nlocks to Duke St where you find police record office and RGD a block

apart on the same side of the road on Duke St...In rural areas seem to have longer waits

No problem! No worries! And I would like to let you all know a redeeming event regarding the RGD!

My fiance just called me, He got a text from the RGD this morning to pick up the Non Impediment form he just applied for on Monday! He didn't even pay the extra $1,000. Shout out to the RGD!! We truly thought this was going to hold us up big time. "I swear God is working in our favor!" he said.

I was just thinking this morning how lucky we all are to have this site to help each other! Every time I see an approval post its like the underdog has scored a victory! Chalk another up for VJ!

My inclination is that they may still require it to prove he is not married now. I like to error on the side of caution, I don't want anything to throw us in AP for any longer than we have to be. However, I have no experience with this.

That's my motto. But it does cost $7500 so if u can avoid it that would be nice! Maybe Jawaree or Pinkrlion would know more. Their very knowledgable and helpful!!
