Says who, the person under quarantine who has fought this thing since day one? No thanks, I'll go with the CDC protocol and so should she. She has an obligation as a healthcare worker to follow the proper protocols.

Out of curiosity, I wanted to see just what the CDC was recommending (their protocol)

After Your Return to the United States

If you were exposed to Ebola during your trip, call your doctor even if you do not have symptoms. Your doctor should evaluate your exposure level and symptoms if you have them and consult with public health authorities to determine whether actions, such as medical evaluation and testing for Ebola, monitoring, or travel restrictions are needed.

Pay attention to your health after you return, even if you were not exposed to Ebola during your trip.

  • Monitor your health for 21 days if you were in an area with an Ebola outbreak.
    • Take your temperature every morning and evening.
    • Watch for other Ebola symptoms: severe headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, or unexplained bleeding or bruising.
    • If your temperature is 100.4°F (38°C) or higher or you have any other Ebola symptoms, seek medical care immediately.
      • Tell the doctor about your recent travel and your symptoms before you go to the doctor’s office or hospital. Advance notice will help the doctor care for you and protect other people who may be in the doctor’s office or hospital.
      • Limit your contact with other people when you travel to the doctor; avoid public transportation.
      • Do not travel anywhere except to the doctor’s office or hospital.
  • During the time that you are monitoring your health, you can continue your normal activities, including work. If you get symptoms of Ebola, it is important to stay apart from other people and to call your doctor right away.

It does NOT say stay behind closed doors for the full three weeks. People are all up in arms over her going out - she went for a bike ride.....

People (in general) need to calm the heck down and stop panicking!!

oh and btw...

Symptoms may appear anywhere from 2 to 21 days after exposure to Ebola, but the average is 8 to 10 days.

Everything is safe until it isn't. This and other types of Virus have a tendency to change without warning.

"Further comparisons suggest that the virus that caused the outbreak separated from those that caused past Ebola outbreaks about 10 years ago. It had accumulated more than 395 mutations between that time and June, when the researchers collected the last samples included in today's analysis."

articles like this a drive me nuts - this contributes to the misinformation and fear mongering.

FYI..... ALL viruses mutate!! Read up on the influenza virus... here let me help (http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/conditions/infectious_diseases/influenza_flu_85,P00625/)

If we are saying the same thing why do you think I need help?

Please see the part below in red. It has been determined by health officials that monitoring and travel restrictions are needed for this person.

It's funny the people you are claiming on this board that are over reacting. You should go read the other Ebola threads here and get back to me on that.

Are you referring to the same CDC that told one of the nurses it's cool to go ahead and get on a plane?

Say for a second that this nurse was greeted on her return in a manner similar to how Texas appears to welcome back their folks who went over there to help. I'd speculate that this nurse would have been similarly cooperative as the nurse in the case of Texas who was welcome with warm greetings and a show of respect. Instead, a hothead governor decided to treat this nurse like a criminal and lock her up against her will and without any apparent justification. You reap what you sow, you know?

Texas sent its chief health officer, Dr. David Lakey, to greet a returning nurse on Wednesday. And Governor Rick Perry called the nurse, who wasn’t named.

“In Texas, we have a great tradition of welcoming our heroes back home and this heroic individual deserves our appreciation, our compassion, and our utmost respect,” Perry said in a statement. “The tremendous work that she and so many other health care workers are doing in West Africa is making life better for those in afflicted countries and helps protect the rest of the world from the spread of this terrible disease; they are doing vitally important work that makes us all proud.”

The nurse has agreed to self-quarantine and is being lavished with praise in return.

Seems like someone sees Christie as a threat in 2016, but not Perry. Good on ya for being proactive.

Look how our so-called "heros" go so far out of their way to help non-citizens on the other side of the planet, but with their own countrymen give us the big F-U.

The doctor who treated Ebola patients LIED about going out all over NYC and the only reason we know is because a POLICE subpoena on his credit cards and subway passes proved he was lying. Zero concern for his own countrymen.

This nurse had a 101 FEVER recorded by a forehead scan, widely reported all over the news upon her return. She disputes the reading, but so what? A fever of 101 after returning from treating Ebola patients is a no-brainer for quarantine and it is incredible a person wouldn't expect quarantine after treating a deadly disease for which there is no available vaccine and is now reported to be perfectly capable of transmission through the air by sneeze or cough and remaining on a surface like a doorknob for possibly a day or more.

11% of people with Ebola had no fever. We can't say that zero fever means safe to mingle with others. Saying a person has no fever is no guarantee at all they aren't carrying Ebola:

I am sick of ditto-heads chirping "fear", and "hysteria" to perfectly normal and sensible procedures. First of all, we aren't supposed to fear something that kills more than half the people it infects? If you have no fear of that, then you are like the Liberians who handle the bodies of dead infected people. The absence of fear is WRONG when it is the rational response to deadly infectious diseases.

The government has ordered more than a million haz mat suits. Should we sneer at this and mock them for their fear? Mock them for hysteria? Why are they ordering a MILLION haz-mat suits and then telling us we're hysterical for just TALKING about it?

Drunk driving laws. Fear-based, but rational. Arming yourself in bear country. Fear based but rational. Keeping guns locked up in safes instead of available to your children to play with: fear-based but rational.

Christie a threat? For who? The other guys running for the Democratic nomination? Because he surely won't be the Republican candidate.

People (in general) need to calm the heck down and stop panicking!!

Look at the double exclamation mark here. It is you who are getting all bent out of shape while being so condescending towards others. Talk about hypocrisy. The person whose eyes are bugging out and veins popping out on their neck rhetorically is telling the rest of us to stop panicking.

More than ten percent of Ebola victims show no elevated temperature and this one had a fever of 101. She claims it was from being angry, but fever isn't even a guaranteed symptom in the first place. It is long established history all the way back to the Black Death that quarantine is the most effective and sensible procedure to contain it.

That isn't hysteria. Being cautious is not hysteria. Screeching about not panicking - now THAT is hysteria.
