Question regarding names on forms / I-130 & G-325A

Hello guys,

I have a question regarding to what name my wife(petitioner) should put on both forms I-130 & G-325A:

fictional name before married: Jennifer Paltrow Gomes
name after married: Jennifer Paltrow Gomes Silva

** She didn't change her name in her passport yet, we only have married certificate as proof for the new name!

I-130:

Family name First name Middle name

Gomes Jennifer Paltrow

Other names used(including maiden name)

Jennifer Paltrow Gomes Silva

G-325A:

Should i just do as the I-130 is?


- I just really don't know if as family name we should put Silva or Gomes.

Whether it's documented or not, it's her married name, so use it. It'd be more suspicious not to use it than to have it missing in her passport. So I guess Silva as family name and Paltrow Gomes as middle name(s) and Jennifer as first name.

Use that for all forms and write Jennifer Paltrow Gomes as her "other name(s) used" with 'maiden' written in parenthesis next to it.

She didn't select a double surname did she? (Like I did with mine) The way you write it is as if she just took over your name and added her maiden name to her middle name like my mom did.

If she has a double surname then you'd write Gomes-Silva on the family name section and paltrow in the middle name part. Otherwise, how you wrote it, or even Jennifer Gomes Silva (on documents I know my mom uses her maiden name as her middle name whenever there's not enough space to write). Either way, they won't care as long as you list all other possibilities in the "Other names used" section.

As far as Sect. C, Q. 7 on the I-130 goes, make sure you write her maiden name (without Silva) and her full married name. Specifiy which is which in parenthesis.
