Hi Everyone

Apologies if this question has been asked before. I've tried to locate answers within the forum but haven't really found a complete answer.

Long story short, I've been going on my twice yearly holidays to the USA since about 2008 to visit my friend, who became my boyfriend and who just recently became my husband. He is a citizen and I come from a qualifying country of the DV lottery. I plan to visit him again soon. With this it is just a visit- we want to see how the DV lottery works out. My question is how do I go about entering the lottery- I get stuck when it asks for my husbands' info (he does not need to enter as already a citizen). Anyone else worked their way through this in a similar situation? If I can't enter this way we will be going the alternate visa route in the near future but would like to see how this goes if I can get through it :)

Thanks in advance.

The documentation says that you don't have to enter details of derivatives if they are citizens, but that it won't penalize your apllication if you do. So it's really up to you what you feel more comfortable with I think...if you just leave him out you will be ok, if you add in his details you will be ok too.

But on a more realistic note, your chances of winning the lottery are tiny. Why don't you start alternative visa procedures (I presume CR1?) in the meanwhile too rather than waiting till May for something which has around a 99% chance of not happening?...

As a US citizen your husband can petition for you immediately, there are unlimited visas for "immediate relatives" - no waiting time at all. It makes no sense at all to enter the lottery, wait until May to see if you won and then wait for processing between 1 to 2 years from now. Frankly, I would imagine a CO doing a DV interview in this scenario would be suspicious of the marriage anyway - since a married citizen would obviously want to take the shortest route to bring his/her spouse to the USA.
