Thanks KASH and Julbuk. Ok, ill update later. But my filing date was December 1st according to the uscis calculator. But I sent it in early cuz if the holiday n a lil misunderstanding the filling process.

I didn't receive extension letter though I have taken the bio-metric in March. Then I called the USCIS; they asked me to make an appointment through Info-pass. I have made it.

What do I need to bring in order to persuade the immigrant officer to give ma I551 stamp?

I am graduating from high school and get accepted by NYU. I wish to travel back to China to visit my friends in this summer. Please tell me what I need?

I am thinking if traveling outside of US will affect the decision. And I don't if Chinese customs recognize the I551 stamp and let me out.

Do I have to give the IO a strong reason in order to make him stamp it?

Ziyi, KASH already gave you what you need. You don't need to convince the io to give you a stamp on your passport; you are ruffled to it in as much as you filed your 1751, and you have your bimetric letter and a passport. You can take anything you feel like, but that's all you need with your state ID.Enjoy your summer.

If your ROC has not yet been approved, I wouldn't leave the US, even with an I-551 stamp. The I-551 stamp acts like an extension letter in that it proves permanent residency. However, if for any reason your I-751 petition was to be denied while you're in China, your permanent resident status is lost, and you will not be able to return to the US to appeal or re-file. Again, do not leave the country with a pending I-751 petition.. With or without an I-551 stamp.

If you want to go back to China, wait until your ROC is approved, or at the very least until you receive an RFE or an interview date. At least with an RFE or interview date, you'll have a specified date, and you'll know your petition won't be denied before that date.

Honestly I won't doubt if I will be denied before I come back. Since my filling office is Vermont office, they are still processing September/October's cases.

I think I will ask the IO who I am meeting just to make sure.
