I got our paper NOA2 in the mail from Frankfurt today and on it stands 'Beneficiary A-Number: A000-000-000'. I'm assuming this is normal as they obviously purposely typed it in that way, haha. Is an A-number for DCF filers even necessary? I'm just hoping this won't cause any delays when it comes time for my husband's DS-260 to be filled out online. I still haven't gotten a Case Number yet either.

According to this link ( http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit.html ) they make it sound like the DS-260 application will assign him an A# since they call it also an Alien Registration Application.

I don't know at which point they assign it, but it is the USCIS office at the Frankfurt consulate in this case.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

Yeah, I already did as soon as I saw it. Hopefully since it's a rather easy question, just asking for the retrieval of a number, they'll be quicker this time. In the past they need over a couple weeks to answer. However, I'm assuming I won't need this number until payment of the Immigrant Fee is required, correct?

Based off of my research it seems as though I'm the only one on here that's had this happen to them, haha. (I know probably not) This was plain laziness on their part, not just a mistake. It's one thing to forget to add the number alltogether, but to actually type in 9 "0's" means they knew what they were doing. $420 and that's the service I get, great.

soon after USCIS Frankfurt sends you the noa2, the IV unit will send you a letter and it will have a case number, and instructions.

The first time I saw my 'a' number was on top of the package that I had to give at the POE, and on the piece of paper that gave me instructions on how to pay the immigration fee thru the uscis-elis webpage.

no worries, you will soon get the info you need.

I didn't even have numbers. It wasn't until I needed to fill out the DS-230 that I had to e-mail an asked what the A number was. So I wouldn't worry about it! When I booked the medical I said doing DCF and I wasn't given a number and they asked for a name and a surname. It wasn't an issue.
