Loving and caring across continents no matter how genuine can be very. It's well said that true love conquers anything including distance. But love is like a seed which needs to be planted, watered and nurtured.

Brings me to wonder how couples behind. 2000 when the now advanced technology was just an idea.

The letter writing times were not bad cos men were more romantic, although the journey of the letter is worse than d journey through d whole process .now it's just a call away,Skype,fb,whatssap, bbm, name them.

Although no matter how technology aids communication, nothing can take away that real physical communication, the touch, the feel, the seeing, the sensitivity, nothing can replace that.

Brings me to wonder " HOW Do you go through days,weeks,months,years--separated from loved ones". How do people cope

Compared ,we are strong and Long distance relationship sucks.

Long distance is such a horrible thing, you are right that no amount of technology can replace the airport hug, the waking up together and the holding hands on the beach but LDR's are definitely survivable when there is trust and a mutual desire to invest in time together "date nights" etc.

Technology is great like you say but I disagree the letter writing time is past, posting letters is usually cheap and a letter to open after you get home from work is better than any number of whatsapp messages. I used to write to my wife every few weeks, I didn't tell her I was posting them so she'd get a nice surprise and she used to do the same for me. Now that we live together we still write each other little notes :)

Its so not easy,LDR, am addicted to checking up the ceac site, hoping I get good progress report. The financial burden of phone calls can't be overlooked. Its just like running two homes from one account, which won't be so if we are together

@ Hotter otter, mayb I should emulate that surprise of letter writing although it seems so out dated when the words can be a click away

@merry tooth,I luv the animation, let me see if I can save it

@JIjourney, when u are already married, its already meant to being, just to work that distance does not limit the meant to last part. Lol!

we are in the same boat of long waiting. But then we smile with the hope that one day everything is going to be just fine and we will be together forever. Even though our love and marriage brought us together, nation and distance divided us.

We smile because we know no matter how far we are, we have each others back always. We talk on phone, we write emails, we send photos, we drop post cards, greetings, letters and some gifts once in a while.

We trust each other and believe each other. And we respect each other. If we found our love in each other despite the long distance (which means we were destined to be together). We are bit old styled couple therefore, we send post cards a lot and send love letters and even send roses and chocolates (online orders)

Once in a while, we both misses each other terribly.. We sob over phone and email but fortunately we are always able to divert that depressing thoughts and share jokes and laugh. We can talk hours and hours because we just love listening each other. And we have memories in the form of photos and videos, when we were together. We watch them and smile always with the hope that we will be together soon.

And friends are so cool, they are always there to make us smile. Once in a while when my wife misses me terribly, she cooks my fav. food (dal bhat sabjhi salad noodles) and invites all her girlfriends and they have this lovely food together.

Few weeks back they had this Dal Bhat Party at one of her frens home. That friend was with us when we got married in Nepal.. And she was our wedding photographer and had all the task to shoot our wedding photos.. So during our vow exchange ceremony my wife had her vows written but our photography cum friend only heard my wife making promise to me "i will always cook Dal Bhat for you for rest of the life". So during this last Dal Bhat Party, our photographer cum friend showed up with a big hand written with our photos being edited and written "i will always cook Dal Bhat for you for rest of the life".

Its hard but then its worth waiting. If we have awaited this long to find each other then we will for sure be together forever. Nothing can stop us.. This is the hope which keeps us going everyday with smile.

I am a travel photog and i work for travel and service industry which makes me travel around. So for us its crazy. In Nov i will be gone for 1 months long assignments into village and i will hardly have phone or internet. Now that's insane.

And our time difference is exactly like yours. I am working and she is dreaming about us. But faith, love and hope is all we need. And a strong belief that one day everything is going to be alright.

Our best wishes for you.

Namaste

being faithful is all in you. If you really love him / her and he / she is your soul mate then its not so hard to remain faithful towards your partner.

In our relationship, for us faith, trust, love and belief is important. And communication is important to us. We share everything daily. We talk about it over phone, email and letters.

I will tell you one story

During the time when we were dating and not married.. I was once out with my friend (female). And she took couple of our photos together and posted in facebook. That is where she (my wife) say the image. (My wife knew that i was going to grab a drink with this female friend. My wife always encourages me to go other and be with people and be social. I prefer to stay home, read, edit images and do my own things when i am not traveling).

That evening when i was speaking to my present wife (at that time girl friend), she was sobbing and crying because she could not be with me and other females were hugging me and clicking images with me. Her tears made me feel so bad but then we got over that incident. But that day i realized, one drop of her tear makes me feel so sad and does crazy thing to my head. Her smile is important to me and my smile is important to her.

And during our trip to my home country (i live away from my home country), my wife was cheated by a tailor coz she went on her own and seeing white skin she was charged extra. And when she came back to me, i was sleeping but then as soon as i saw her face, i could read her face. All she needed was a hug and showing that i am there for her.. And we went back to tailor and i gave him an ear full of lecture of how not cheating the guest.

All that matters for us is each others smile.

It is so so hard. I met my significant other last march and was not yet divorced. I went back to canada in May. Due to a bad separation (from now ex and 3 young children) I returned to nothing but the clothes in my suitcase and some pocket money that my parents gave me (they live in Florida). I had to live in a shelter for 4 months until I could afford to move out. Due to my employment I made too much to obtain legal aid and too little to afford a lawyer. My ex alienated me and cut me off completely from family. To this day I have no form of communication with my children. Custody is still legally being dealt with. I have hopes of seeing them again someday. My so's mother died a short while ago. I did what my heart told me to do and came to be with him. Divorce finalized and we married. A lot to happen in one year. Being away from my love was heart wrenching especially not being able to see my children.
