Also I posted this on the LPR bringing family to USA forum, but I did not get a real answer.

Hello I have read on Vj several forums (with the changement of DCF) to file the I-130 as soon as possible. But I am not clear on why...

I am still a LPR, but waiting on naturalization. I have receieved the NOA stating I should get a interview within 260 days. Time as pf course since receiving the NOA but we are still a ways off. I was married last year in September and would like to bring my husband here. I am wondering what is the benefit (if any) in filing the I-130 now while still a LPR... since as LPR you have to wait for a visa to be open and as USC you donnot. Does filing now as LPR move the petition along towards getting approved or does a visa need to be availibe before the I-130 is approved? I hope I am making sense. I am just trying to figure out if it is worth filing now or to wait until I am in USC (which I *think* not happen anytime soon, I estimate by late spring) ???

Thanks alot!

So since may of my questions were asnwered I thought I repost it here...maybe someone can help here ?! Our orginal plan was (even thou I already stated this) was to do DCF file the I-130 in the consulate but that is out... I read all I coulld first about the K1, then we decided to get married, better option for us, then I read up on DCF(which was the same I-130 form but just filed in a different way) They nixed that out...now I am  going crazy looking for another route...but I guess my only 2 options are k3 and CR/IR1...

Thanks!

Henia, you may want to check out the 2007 edition of "Fiance and Spousal Visas", by Ilona Bray. It has a section on how LPRs can do spousal visas. You can even download it at Amazon.
Saha,Thanks checking it now

I guess I am just frustrated with years of dealing with INS, their bizarre adminstratie errors, rude and stupid officers in my local office, a cheating lawyer whoe wasted my time for 2 years and this new John Walsh law.:wacko::blink:
