i have a hard time accepting that as truth across the board. lots of females' bodies at sixteen still haven't ironed out all the kinks hormonally..maybe 16 was true a generation or so back but i think environmental distubances come into play nowadays (hormones in food..)

Yes!!! American children look more physically developed than children around the world at a younger age. It is the junk we pump into the foods. However men need to realize physically looking mature is no the same as actually physically and mentally being mature.

i feel bad for guys nowadays, they have it rough. i swear to god my neice looks at least sixteen, if not older. she's just turned 13. if she wanted to try and pass for someone older (for sure would be a sign of her lack of maturity but that ties in with the whole cognitive development issue) it wouldn't be difficult for her to pull off.

I forgot about the advent and effect of hormones in food. I'm guessing the article's study would show it's because 16 is the optimal age for the body to recover from the effects of gestation and labour (granted that these 16 year olds only had one child and otherwise had a "normal" life and routine)

I get a chance to meet the international students coming to our uni. You know what I tell them? dudes and chicks, always ask for IDs even if you think you are sure. I know kids can have fake IDs nowadays, but at least you would have tried to cover yourself. And if you are still iffy, just don't do it.

what's really sad is that girls who develop early are often blamed for doing so. like their internal sluttiness willed them into looking much older than they are. can be very very damaging to a young girls self esteem.
