I run a quick search for British food stores in Detroit and didn't really see anything. But there are a lot of World Market stores in Michigan. I don't know if any of them are close to you, but if they are they should have some British food for you. :)

http://www.worldmarket.com/custserv/store_...ng.jsp?state=22

Hopefully someone else will be able to find something for you.

Edited: I found this place that sells British foods amongst others. http://www.hillersmarkets.com/BritishFoods.cfm

Kiki thank you for thinking of us! I missed everyone here!

So everything went smoothly with the wedding, the ceremony was quick and easy, the reception had more food and drink than I could ever imagine, and it was just amazing to have gotten this far.

Then we we did touristy things here in NYC, went to DC for two days then Colonial Williamsburg. For those of you have not yet been there I highly recommend it! It is fun, romantic, historical and peaceful. They do have this new exhibit though, about the Revolution where they have people screaming in the streets to beware of the British! It's all good fun though and Adam loved it.

Anyway I am clucking. I hope everyone is good and I can't believe so much time has passed since I've been on here.

We are just about to assemble the AOS packet, we filled out all the forms, so I know I will have some ridiculous questions soon!

What have I missed? Work is so slammed I don't have time to go back and read the last month of threads!

:star: Excellent news Estella! I'm so glad it all went well for you both :D Congratulations!

Well I passed my driving test today! Hah! It was funny really and I was nervous, even after driving for 18 years in many different countries! They (the Va DMV) said they can only give me a license for 2 months until I can prove that my Green Card is coming.... Umm, does anyone know what I can show to prove this?

Alison, it'll be here before you know it! Enjoy your last few weeks in England! :P

I hope Ewen and Pax are doing fine  ....and has anyone heard from Estella and Adam? I was just thinking of them today....

I intend to KikiDoug. :) I spent a day out with my sister last Thursday after not being in contact with her for 3 years due to personal things. I thought, what the heck, forget the past and look to the future and made up with her. Then I have two other sisters, the youngest who lives in Gloucester, England who I've lost contact for years and she's got back in contact with me, my eldest sister lives in Anglesey and keep in contact but haven't seen her for ages. So we're all doing a sister meet up in Birmingham on the 29th for the day :) Then my foster parents are suppose to be coming up sometime this month or before we leave. Last time I saw them was about 2 years ago but do keep in contact with them. :)

I've mostly finished packing boxes, the rooms are very hollow and echoey :D

Kiki congrats on passing! I would be nervous too, driving on the other side of the road and all that. At least most american cars are automatics and you don't have to reverse around corners or whatnot to pass your test! I know that if I move to the UK with Adam one day I just will be taking the bus despite driving for 14 years here.

Hmmm I'm sure that if you forward some kind of receipt for your AOS packet that the DMV cannot refuse you a license. I think half the cabbies here in NYC don't have their greencards yet and it doesn't stop them. I took a peek at the Virginia DMV site and couldnt find anything. :( Can you call their customer service line and ask? Im sure they just need some proof that you are trying to adjust status.

Okay so I WILL finish the AOS application this weekend, I swear. I just have some questions, if anyone can help. Ive read all the papers 100 times over and some things still dont make sense

1) Can I pay with checks? It says to check your local office but this goes to a lockbox so that doesnt apply. I hate money orders!

2) It really all goes to a lockbox in Chicago? How odd.

3) I need some of the same backing documents for the EAD, AP and AOS, do I have to include the same copies of this evidence (i.e. I-94 front and back, passport id page) behind each application or can I just have one big section in the back of my two hole punched, tabbed on the bottom, packet of joy that will apply to all applications? Im writing my table of contents now so just wanted to know. I know thanks to Rebecca that I need 6 photos (one set for each app) but I wasnt sure about the copies of documents.

and you know Id think of a crazy one...

4) Do I fill in the Affadavit of support in my new married name? I changed it via the marriage certificate but havent had time to get it changed anywhere else. My taxes and pay stubs are in my maiden name.

Ahhh yes, Im back with the crazy questions. I hate paperwork so much

Estella - You should make complete separate packets for each petition. That means making multiple copies of things but.....

After writing checks and shipping it all off to Chicago (as Sukie said)....

The AOS will be forwarded to the office where you two will have your interview. So it will get separated from the EAD and AP.

EAD and AP will stay in Missouri and be approved there.

Affidavit of Support - complete that in your new married name, as Sukie also said.

And you only need one year tax return with that, in case we hadn't said that before.

We're starting to sort out our AOS package, too.

I had to have 3 injections today, so that I could get a civil surgeon to sign off on my Vaccination suppliment (I'd already had one of them, and the other two weren't strictly necessary, but I got them for $5 each because of how short a time I'd been there. So I figured what the hell).

So that's one thing down. About a million more to go. :P

Yep, we're not going to let AOS sneak up on us! I printed off a copy of my tax return today, so I'll have that for the I-864, and next week I'll ask my boss to write me a new employment letter.

We're also sending off the DS-3025 to be transcribed by a CS in Seattle for the I-693A. Better to pay $35 and do it by mail than drive for at least an hour and pay at least $80 around here!

Then in about a week and a half, we'll hit up an SS office and see if we can't get Ewen a Social Security number.

Right now, we're focused mostly on getting the flat in order; Ewen is of course having lots of fun hooking up all of his electronic gadgetry, putting CDs on my new mp3 player that he gave me (L), and organizing his closet! :P This weekend I think we'll start working on our scrapbook, too.

Latest news: Green card received 16 April 2007. USCIS-free until 3 January 2009! Eligible to naturalize 3 April 2010.
