London Embassy Graduates Thread

My POE was Newark, I was with Mark as we went through, there was not really much of a line for visitors, so we got through very quickly. I was in the room where they open your envelope for 10-15 minutes tops while Mark waited a little way away with our luggage.

For almost everyone their K1 POE has been a piece of cake. :)

Hi all...

Thought I would pop into this forum since hopefully we will be graduates soon of the London Embassy now that Crash has his interview scheduled for the 2nd of May.

Was wondering if anyone did their POE at JFK or Newark and how those went... We're not sure which airport Crash will be flying into yet. JFK is closer to me but he can get direct flights to Newark from Bristol.

Thanks...

We entered through JFK. Normally it's quite busy there but our flight had gotten delayed and we wound up going through immigration at 2am as opposed to 11pm. It was VERY simple and the officers at the POE were nice, said "Congrats" to us, and sent us on our way.

When I've visited Scott and went through Newark's POE, I had no problems at all. Just make sure you get into the queue quickly. I hope it goes smoothly for Ewen, Pax. I have to lumber two children, a pushchair and our carry on bags with us and get my medical papers and so on ready when I enter. :)

Cari, if you look above your last post, you'll see mine detailing my experience going through Newark. It was very simple and quick. So hopefully it will be painless for you and crash, too. :)

Pax, we flew back together into Dulles, Washington DC. It was so easy - much easier than going on vacation on the VWP - after lining up for about 10 mins at immigration, the lady at passport control was real friendly. She looked briefly through the packet then sent us to another area. We waited abut 5 mins in the special area, then the immigration officer returned my passport and told us we could go. He never asked me a single question! I said "Is that all - don't you need to ask me anything?" and he just said "No, you can go"! :D

I have another strange question... What happens to your luggage?? If we remember correctly at JFK you go thru the immigration desk and then get your baggage and go thru customs. Is that process any different when coming thru as an immigrant? We were under the impression that Crash and our son will be brought to another room and questioned and thats when he hands over the MBE (mysterious brown envelope). So what happens then?

Thanks as always...

Cari

I don't know if it is the same in all airports, but when we arrived at Dulles, we lined up as normal and went through passport control where we handed the MB envelope. The officer looked inside the MBE then told us to get our luggage and go to another room. So, we collected all the suitcases and went to the visa processing area with the bags on a trolley. We handed over my passport and the MBA, waitied there for 5 mins or so, then got called up, handed back my passport and I-94 and told we could go! On the way out, we went through the "nothing to declare" line of customs, and that was it!
