Many thanks again to you rebeccajo for your help

And Kiki.....yes yes, that's it.....the Simple Minds song. Now come on, go and listen to that track...you've got to admit that the chorus sounds just like, "I love you Kiki!!!!!!!"

Congrats Rebecca and Wes!

I've been lurking but a bit out of touch. The wedding is in 10 days and just last week my mom called to tell me "oh by the way I blew all the money I was using to pay it, so I hope you have it". Needless to say I've been BEYOND stressed!!

Anyway it just hit me today that I have not went with Adam to apply for his SSN or even started filling out AOS papers. I think I am just in denial that we have to do this work. I want to wait until after the wedding...would this affect anything negatively? Is there a deadline for either? He arrived in the US Feb 12.

Marie - NYC, USA

Adam - Birmingham/Manchester, UK

TY, Estella.

No there are no deadlines. You could probably easily get his SS number now - he's most likely 'in the system' as they say. I would suggest you get on it though. Just take his passport (hope there's an I-94 in it) and birth certificate with you when you go. Do you need a SS number in your county to get a marriage license? We didn't but some counties or municipalities require it.

As far as AOS goes, it's recommended that you do it within his original 90 day time frame. The paperwork is really not that hard.....and the new requirments make things a bit easier (you only need one year tax return instead of 3). It's $395 with the biometrics.

Yay! Mark and I got our marriage licence today. So now we're pretty much all set for next week.

And my parents will be in Salt Lake tomorrow! :)

Congrats to you and your wedding!!!!! Isn't it so much fun going in and asking for a marriage licence. It seems so silly that you need to be "licenced" but we had a great time filling in the little sections for "bride" and "groom." It's basically the first official sort of recognition that you are in fact going to soon be husband and wife! Lots of luck to you!

Thanks Rebecca!

I already got my marriage license last week. We live in NYC and by looking around most of the couples there were non-US Citizens so they have it pretty much down pat. No SSN required! In fact, writing your name in the English language didn't seem to be a requirement either. I took a week off between our wedding and our honeymoon so Im aiming for then.

I just filled out all the paperwork on Wednesday in a panic. The hardest part is figuring out which numbers are which on the K1 Visa! Downloading the free trial of Adobe 7.0 is a lifesaver on this, since it allows you to fill in and save the forms. So if anyone has yet to do this, I recommend going this route.

I just have one question. If I file for AP, and EAD with the AOS, do I still have to have two passport photos attached to each application? Or just the two attached to the G-325A will suffice for all needs? Might as well get all of those taken now so all I need is the marriage certificate and Im set.

Employment verification letter in hand and well I have my tax return for 2005 since I just filed it. Do I need to add my 2005 W-2 as well? Is this too easy or is it just me?

Huffy just a few more days for both of us!! I hope your wedding is amazing!! (F)

Estella - get six passport photos taken (2 for each petition) and add your W-2's and you are good to go!

For everybody's edification, if you are using a tax transcript the W-2s are not required. If sending the actual return, add your W2's, 1099s, etc.

And Yorkie - Best Wishes!

:star: Yorkie, best wishes and good luck to you both! (F)

We went for my biometrics yesetrday in Charleston WV. The office was small and everyone was real friendly. There was a very entertaining security officer with a great sense of humor! :P

I was in the office over 2 hours - I have really tiny smooth fingers. They had a major problem taking my prints. After doing 4 digital and 4 traditional ink/paper types, they decided they couldn't do any better. The QC Officer even had a go. I may need to go back and redo them if they get rejected, which we hope won't happen...

Hey yall,

Update on whats new for us.

I flew into the US on 16th Feb from manchester which was pretty cool. I got upgraded to business class with BMI so the flight was a good one. I got into Chicago and was the first in line for the POE who was a real nice guy. We laughed and joked while he processed everything which was annoying others cuing but he held them all up as he told me how he ended up doing the job hes doing. Once he had finished all the paperwork he shook my hand and wished me all the best and welcomed me to my new home in the USA which was pretty cool.

Then the fun begins lol. In Chicago that day United airlines cancelled almost all there flights so i got stranded in Chicago so Mandy had to drive and pick me up which sucked but there wasnt anything else we could do but i was just happy to be home.

We got married on the 25th Feb and had a pretty good day and have been pretty busy since. Since then we have signed a lease in Ohio and should be fully moved this weekend. On the 6th March we went and applied for my SS# which was easy and painless which took no longer than 5 mins. The day after we went back and they printed out my SS# for me and the card turned up in the mail 11th March. We now have a joint bank account which was also painless and only took 30 mins because the bank teller sorting it all out for us was just learning the job so was being trained how to change Mandys account over.

So basicly all thats left to do is start AOS and file for EAD so i can start working as ive been offered a job for when i get my employment authorization. I hope to be around more in the next week or two and again just want to say thanks to all that helped us in the past with the K1 process.

Tom

We actually live in Virginia - they sent us to Charleston WV for the biometrics as that was the closest office to where we live.

Well, we haven't heard from the biometric people yet, so we're hoping my fingerprints will pass...
