Stacey congratulations! I hate when people who work someplace don't even know the rules. All someone needs for a marriage license is one valid form of ID and a passport counts. That's how so many people marry in America before they start the spousal visa process. Sigh! I am SO going to bring the requirements printed out when I go for mine in two weeks now that I've seen what you went through!!!!

Rebecca good luck to you wherever you are!!!! (F)

Stacy, are ya gonna make them reimburse ya for gas money!! What a clusterf.........lol

Kiki, in WV we need the EAD to get a drivers license. It's different in each state, but you might want to check back with them. We find everytime we go in we get a bit more of the story.

Far as my interview went.....well i was in there for 1.5 hours. The guy won't decide for about 2 weeks cause he is still interviewing first of next week then will be out of town on business for about another week. There were 60 applicants and I am guessing he is interviewing less than 10.

I was very dubious about going cause I do like where I work now, but I am only part time. But the man seemed nice and the job, while challenging, seems within my capabilities. Plus it pays DOUBLE what I am earning now with all bennies paid by company.

So....will have to wait and see how I did. Think I will send out a TY card tomorrow though.

We arrived in Orlando yesterday. POE was easy as pie. We had to be split up into two different lines but I could watch through the glass in CUstoms while they went through his paperwork. I could actually see what he was doing with the paperwork where as my fiance was freaking cuz he couldn't see the paperwork. Anyway, everything went great except for the turbulence half way through the flight.

You can actually go through the same line. US Citizens are allowed through the Visitors line. My fiance waited with me in the visitors line. It was actually a lot, lot shorter than the citizens line.

We tried actually but they did split us up. It was fine. No big. But it totally stressed Damian out. He was sure they were gonna say we forgot something or crazy stuff. Anyway, all went well.

Hello,

My fiance is arriving in two weeks and I'm starting to pull together all the documents for AOS, EAD and AP. I have a question about the supporting tax documentation for the past three years. I believe it says in the AOS that you need copies of the actual documents that were filed. Does anyone know if they will except tax transscripts ordered from the IRS or do I really need to send a copy of the entire tax package?

Thank you in advance,

Jennifer

Jennifer,

First of all they now only require 1 year tax return, the last years - see the post in the 'immigration news forum'. The other I am not sure about.

I did'nt realise you had to have tax returns for the aos part I'm assuming you mean the US partner and what form are you dealing with

Regards David

Hey David - Bess will need to submit her entire 2005 tax return (1040 or 1040EZ) with all attachments including the W-2 form. She knows what those are. Shouldn't be a problem because now is tax filing time and she has either just very recently filed or is still working up to it!

Oh...I hope when I just moved I didnt trash the 2005 W2!! I was all set with my last three years of transcripts, oh well!

I've been a bit quiet lately as Adam and I just moved house on Saturday. It is so different once you no longer have to count down the seconds you are together. But it's also tough with now having to share living space, doing domestic stuff, managing money... it is all so adult! I know Adam is having a difficult time because he is away from friends and family and his country and everything is so new to him. Simple things like not ever having a gas stove, seeing how expensive beer is, having no bank account of his own, it's all very tough on him, so right now we are trying to make the best of it all while we try to adjust.

It's all wonderful, but it's taking a bit of time to get used to, so until then I am not even going to think about AOS. I'll file after Im married next month, I need a break!!! :star:

My husband is arriving on Saturday and my little daughter and I are really excited. We are very fortunate in that he spent approx. 7 months in the US utilizing the VWP so he knows what to expect- he knows the area, our friends and family, etc from being here before. We have also lived together so we don't have the "newness" factor to add to all of our stress either. So that's what we are fortunate about- but we also still have to deal with him getting EAD, then his green card, plus our baby is on it's way....so we have enough stress to last us for a little while! (F)

See my timeline for all previous dates!

Naturalization:

6/28/09: Mail N-400 to Texas

7/6/09: NOA1

7/24/09: Biometrics

10/08/09: Interview

11/21/09: Receive oath date

01/22/10: Oath Date

With thanks to all the helpful people who made this journey slightly more bearable.
