good evening everyone.. i just have a very important concern regarding of the requirements to get married with an American citizen in a Catholic church in the Philippines.. one of the requirements is a "PERMIT/RECOMMENDATION FROM CATHOLIC PARISH (EVEN IF FOREIGNER BELONGS TO OTHER RELIGIOUS SECTORS SINCE HE/SHE IS MARRYING A CATHOLIC THIS TIME). my concern is, he is not a Catholic but we plan to have our wedding in a Catholic church. Do he need to follow a certain form or any letter for this one that is downloadable?? or can he make his own form of permit/recommendation and just bring it to a Catholic priest in his country to convince the Parish priest there and sign it??

your answer will surely be a great of help... thanks...
if this post is out of the line here, im sorry just cant find any answer for this question and im sure there are Filipina women here that are married to a non-catholic US citizen in the Philippines and hope you'll help me with this one mga kabayan... thanks a lot in advance...

Can you have a civil marriage process in Philippines for the legal part of it and have a wedding celebration at a Catholic Church just in appearance only? Maybe a priest will work on your special circumstance if it is not a legal requirement but more of a celebration

Hi, first of all you applied for a K-1 visa which means your marriage takes place in the states not the Philippines, plus to you need at least a months time to spare if not more to make it happen but keep checking the other responses you get from the filipinos to put you on the true path

well, we cancelled k-1 visa application and wanted to apply for the spousal visa... the thing is he is not a catholic but we want to have a catholic church wedding, he tried to went twice already in a Catholic church hoping the priest will sign it when he went there the second time but he was only told, " i cant sign or give you a recommendation coz you are not a catholic and i dont know you long enough"... well still hoping we can have our dream church wedding, he doesnt care to convert to Roman catholic religion but he was told he needs to have at least 6 months to do it, but that wont work coz we planned to have it on january 2015, thats more than 2 months t go from now....

hope someone can help us here... :(

Hi, if your SO was told by the priest there they're not going to break the rules for nobody, plus another thing the Cr-1 visa is going to take you more than a year to get approved by the embassy unless you get a miracle just telling you the facts but more experienced members will help you along the way, but good luck on your journey

i/we are getting all the information needed for that said paper work.. anyways, i read form your profile that you are applying for the same visa too, CR-1, are you still on the process??? how long from now since you started it??? we were adviced with our attorney to get the CR-1 visa rather than k1 coz it has more chance not to be denied, coz USA has that kind of law which dont let any family to be far or refrain to be together, if i understood it correctly...

i am a Filipina enagged to an American national, we are planning to get wed on January next year but the thing is when i went to Chancery office at Archdiocese of Cebu to meet and ask the Chancellor about the requirements, there were numbers of requirements for us to have our church wedding dream. Paper works for me (her) are just easy to comply since i am Filipino citizen and a Catholic woman, but my fiance (him) is a non-catholic person so he needs to get the number 2 requirement for him which is the, "PERMIT/RECOMMENDATION FROM CATHOLIC PARISH (even if foreigner belongs to other religious sectors since he or she is marrying a Catholic person this time)" the Chancellor said that that paper work or such permit is needed to get from his country... so he went to a Catholic Parish in USA and asked the priest if he can help him with this, the priest and the nuns there made him attend a Catechism class first, the priest also told him that he will look on what kind of paper work he will be really needing from him and as by the looks the priest was willing to help, before he leave the Church he told to come back October 25, 2014 at 5pm (USA TIME).. so he went there again yesterday (USA TIME) attended the same class but at the end the priest told him that he cant sign or whatsoever help him with the said request. First, is because he is not a Catholic, 2nd is because the priest dont know my fiance. The priest told my fiance to try to ask help from other Catholic Church nearby, he will go to another Catholic Church nearby his place as adviced by the previous priest. I/we just want to know if who among you here have had the same situation like ours now??? what did you do to comply that permit??? any possible form that is downloadbale for that?? i read something about mixed marriage also or the Disparity of Cult Dispensation where you write a letter to the Bishop, if i understood it well. Did anyone of you here done that procedure with the Bishop???

we really want to have a Catholic Church wedding, he is willing to be baptized as a Catholic and embrace it but was told that he doesnt have enough time for that. every girl around the world for sure wants and dreams to walk in the aisle in front of God and family, have God's blessing on tying the knot with the man that is waiting for her at the end of the aisle.. i want to experience that, and all he is wanting too is to let me experience and give me the wedding that most girls wants....

any answer, comment, advice are welcome and will be so much appreciated.

if this concern is a bit out of topic from the previous once, im sorry just needed some help here, and im sure there are married couples here that had this kind of experience before.

THANK YOU...
