Here is a copy of what I sent to Dept. of state:

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I have read MANY threads, websites, posts, etc. about how the Adam Walsh act will immediately stop all I130 processing overseas. No notice? No call or email from the embassy? Husbands and wives who have been separated for (sometimes years) long periods of time had to find this info. on visajourney.com??? You should really read this site... thousands of people devastated!

If my case is already approved, why should I now have to wait because United States of America doesn't have access to see whether or not I am a pedophile???

Why now, just because I want my husband to live in the same country as me, why now are you concerned as to whether or not I'm a pedophile? Why and how should that affect me bringing my husband here??? Was this checked before I became a teacher? If not, don't you think that that would be an important and appropriate time to check this info???

I feel that the immediacy of this is not only wrong, but not American. Where is the freedom? Freedom to be with my husband? We did everything the right way, the legal way. Now we are told, "We are sorry for and regret any inconvenience". To call it an "inconvenience" when referring to my husband and I being separated for a year, I feel that is completely degrading and again, just simply wrong.

There should have been some notice. There should at least have been a cut off date. Embassies (who are saying they simply didn't know) should have been informed so they could correctly inform husbands and wives.

All you have to do is imagine being separated from your wife, children, or anybody you love (and remember, most of us are newlyweds). Imagine how you would feel when somebody told you "we are sorry for the inconvenience, but as of this minute, your world is turned upside down!"

I am asking you (not only on my behalf, but on the behalf of thousands of people who are terrified, scared, lonely, and utterly confused) to please reconsider the way you are handling this. People who have already been approved, and/ or people who have already been waiting more than 6 months should NOT have to go through this. DCF wasn't even supposed to take this long.

Why are our American embassies not prepared with the proper database? Why are the consular officers not trained? Why are the US embassies so understaffed?

And what about the people who were recently given the visa through the I130? Are you going to take it away? You have to see that this is simply wrong. I understand it, but it's being handled in an unfair way.

I highly suggest you check out visajourney.com and look at the DCF forum. You will see thousand of husbands and wives who are totally devastated, scared, and not understanding why, when they filed the legal way, why they are being punished?

Thank you for your time. And remember, please take the time to place yourself in others' shoes. America knows how to do the right thing, let's do it for our Americans.

Sincerely,

Amy Voci

PS – I look forward and want to thank you in advance for your prompt reply.

Amy, it is in reply to the previous poster (who didn't get her not-her-writing in the right place anyway).

Made no difference with IMBRA....

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
