No Postal Service Where We Live

Just curious how people deal with the inability to receive snail mail while going through this process? Where I live we don't have postal service. We can send packages via UPS but there is no reliable way to receive mail. (We do have mail forwarding services that take mail shipped to Miami and send it down here for pickup but they lose quite a bit of mail or it is delayed for weeks or months).

I presume a lot can be done via email these days?

I have been dealing with this headache as well and received some advice on here. . . for the USCIS stage as long as you submitted your G-1145 e-mail notification you should receive your NOAs via e-mail. You can also go to the USCIS website and sign up for online case status once you have your application number so you can check your case status any time.

With the NVC stage, if you call them in the beginning and give them your email address, all correspondence is done through e-mail and the forms can be downloaded offline. They should receive your email address from USCIS anyway. So all the postal stuff will be done from your side to them. I think if you receive a checklist it should go to the person whom you identify as an agent in the beginning of the NVC process, so choose someone in the States for that.

However, I am doing a CR-1 visa, so there is no need for me to have the official "NOA"'s at any time in the future. For a fiancé visa I heard that you MUST submit your *original* NOA2 with your adjustment of status once you are married (but I would check this), and if you need a replacement it costs something like 400 dollars!!! So if this is the case for you and you will need to adjust status at some point, I highly recommend you do an address change online to have the NOA2 forwarded to a reliable U.S. address. . .
