Hey guys, I had my interview today and thought I would share my experience with you all!!

My interview was scheduled at 26 Federal plaza this morning at 8:25 am. My husband and I got there at about 8:10 and was done with security in less than 5mins. We proceeded into the waiting room filled with about 60 people. I was called into another room around 9:30 by a very polite phillipino IO. Before I sat he asked that I raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth- I did that! He asked me to seat and we began the process of going through my application (I actually wrote my social security number wrong on my application thank goodness for the revision process).He confirmed my name, DOB, address, travel history etc. He asked to see my passport, green card and drivers license. After that was done, he proceeded to ask the questions

What is the name of the Vice President?

How many amendments are there in the constitution?

Who makes Federal laws?

What group of people came to America and was sold as slaves?

Why did the colonist fight the British?

Can't remember the 6th question. Got all of them right. Then he asked me to

Read : "who can vote?"

Write: "citizens can vote"

Since my application was based on marriage to my us citizen husband he said that we needed to revise evidence and asked if I had anything to submit. I had an updated lease, since the old one had expired after sending in N-400 application. Since our health insurance cards only has my husbands name, I had a printout of our online account with both of our names, just to show it was current. He the asked about utility bills, everything is included in our rent except cable and Internet (which is only in my name). He had copies of tax returns for the past three years, marriage certificate, insurance cards etc so he said that he did not need any additional info and thought that what I had was sufficient. He then handed me a printed sheet that confirmed that I passed the test and congratulations, I was recommended for approval. He asked if I had any questions- since I had a name changed, I asked if that would have delayed the process in any way and assured me that it wouldn't. On our way out he made a copy of the new lease, passport, greencard and drivers license. He said have nice date and that was it!

Overall it was a pleasant experience and only took about 1/2 hour! It's just the oath ceremony left-He mentioned that I will receive oath ceremony notice in the mail in a couple weeks!

I had my citizenship interview today. I'm sorry I forget to update this. The whole process took like 15 minutes. After going through my form, they had me read the question "where is the white house located?" and write the answer that the white house in in Washington DC. Asked the following questions:
1. What is an ammendment

2. Who vetoes bills

3. What do you pledge allegiance to when taking the oath

4. What is your state's capital - (Lansing here)

5. What is the supreme law of the land

6. What countries did the US fight in WW2

That was bascially it really. My oath ceremony is on he 23rd March, i.e. next monday. So hey, it seems it's all over now.

Also since I was there I took the opportunity to ask the interviewer some questions of my own as I did not take my US Citizen wife with me. She does not need to be there per the letter does not request her presence and it (her presence) does not help the case one bit they tell me. It's all about you and your activities, your file. Also that citation question on the form, if you have ever been cited by a police officer, well you can mark 'NO' on it, even though traffic tickets are citations, they are not criminal citations, like drunk driving/evading/reckless driving or other major criminal traffic violations. Speeding/parking/civil infraction tickets are not that lethal to this process, as long as you took care of them i.e. went to court, paid fines and stuff. Hence, make sure all tickets were dealt with and just check NO.

Thank you for all the extra info... this is helpful.

This just shows how inconsistent USCIS can be.

There are at least two interview experiences on VJ from 2014 where the interviewer told the applicant that they didn't care about traffic citations as long as they were listed on the N400. In fact, one interviewer said that it would have been considered lying on an immigration form if the citation hadn't been listed.

There are also many more cases where interviewers delayed the application and insisted on seeing court disposition documents for simple speeding tickets.

Since you don't know which type of interviewer you're going to get, I think it's best to err on the side of caution. I figure that if I get a lenient interviewer, he can cross out the extra information he doesn't want, but if I get a tough interviewer, I can get in trouble for leaving citations off the form.

Hello VJ family,

I finished my interview today at the San Bernardino field office and as most VJ member do, I will talk about my experience. I was scheduled for 1h20 PM so I went to work in the morning and left around 11h30 which was plenty of time for me to get there. I arrived an hour earlier so I went to a Jack in the Box Burger place 1/8 of a mile from the building to get something to eat. There are a lot of parking slots available along with street parking. About 30 minutes prior to my appointment time, I entered the building. There was no line at all so I directly went through security and took the elevator to the 2nd floor. We were about 40 people in the waiting area and I could feel the anxiety everywhere. At 1h30 PM my name was called and I followed the to his office, a very nice Latino guy. he asked for my GC, passport and DL. He told me to seat and we will go straight to the questions

1- Who signs bills to become laws?

2- If the president can no longer serve who becomes president?

3- During the cold war, what was the main concern of the US?

4- There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

5- Why are there 50 stars in the Flag

6- What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?

Then he moved on to make me read " Which state has the most people? and write, California has the most people

He started then to read through my application. I had a "Fix it" ticket for not having my registration and did not mention it when I was filling out my application. I was ready to do so at the interview but he did not even read those questions. All he asked was prostitution and Jail, I guess "fix it" ticket don't even show up in your records. I became resident through a USC who am now divorced from due to irreconcilable differences but that did not even come up at the interview. He just asked me If I am still divorced. And I said yes and he had me signed and print my name and handed me the paper that reads Congrats you are recommended for approval. We were done in 5-7 minutes. He walked me to the door and made copies of my passport and said that I will receive the oath letter in the mail in couple of weeks so he will see me there. I asked him if I could still change my name. He told me he could do it but that will delay my ceremony since he was ready to put me through for a ceremony. But if I wanted to change the name then, he will have to submit the new name for a name check before they can schedule me for oath which can take a little longer so if am not in a hurry to be a citizen I can do it. But then he told me it might be easier to do it at the court if I still want to do it, since it is the same thing. I told him that I will chose the court option and he could send me through for the oath.

That was it!!! Very easy process it's just the unknown that scares us. Good luck everyone. I cannot wait to be done
