How long does it take to get Case Number?

Seems like the NVC is backed up right now, it would be nice if they could send a letter/email like USCIS to say they actually have the application in hand since there's always the fear that it might have got lost in the mail. I'm going to follow the instructions on the NOA2 and wait for the 30 days to be up before sending an email. If I don't hear from the email, which I fully expect not to, then I will try and make a phone call after a week or so. I don't care how long it takes really, I just want to know that they actually received the application from USCIS. Hang in there guys, this process is notoriously slow, we just have to relax.

this makes me frustrated to know that some cases taking shorter time to get to NVC and others longer. I called last week friday the 7th and my case arrived that very day.. it was 3 weeks from my NOA2

I think the NVC is swamped with loads of cases not on K1 but CR1 as well.... we all just need to pray

it is also 3 weeks from my NOA2 (CSC)...

Did you get an email form USCIS when they actually sent your case to NVC?

Frips I never got an email from USCIS -CSC when they shipped my case to NVC. I just happen to try to call NVC and the very same day I called they said my case arrived only a couple of hours earlier. That was Nov 7th.

Anyway I called them half an hour ago (have to tested skype call :D )....I was waiting 17 min to get someone on line

My case was recieved 11/03....now have to wait 30 days for case#

Frips, They usually assign a case number the very same day it arrives. My case arrived on the 7th of this month and I called back today and was told my case was just shipped out today to London embassy. I would call them back on Monday for further updates. It seems to be easier getting through these days and the agents/officers are super nice every time I have called(only was two times)

I am somewhat confused about signing up for an account on USCIS website. If I already have my NOA2 hardcopy in hand, what advantage is there signing up for an account on the USCIS website? Do they know anything about what NVC is doing? I got my approval from USCIS on Oct 15 and no news since then. Thanks for your help on this.

08/14/14 Mailed I-129F

08/25/14 Email notification of NOA1 received; check cashed.

08/29/14 Received hard-copy NOA1 with notice date of August 22

10/15/14 Checked my case status on-line and was told that my approval was mailed out on Oct 15!

11/03/14 NVC received my case from USCIS (unsure of this date)

11/07/14 NVC assigned a case #, an invoice # and Beneficiary ID (unsure of exact date)

11/10/14 Package was sent to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico consulate (this date is known)

11/25/14 Received Package 3 (a letter) from Consulate dated Nov 19, 2014.

01/29/15 Interview in Ciudad Juarez - approved!!!

02/26/15 Entry into the US in San Ysidro by land

03/16/15 Marriage in San Diego

03/27/15 Filed applications for Adjustment of Status with Chicago lockbox

04/06/15 Received electronic notification that case was received

There is no point for signing up if you have NOA2.

You got your approval week before me...so it should be at NVC already.

My NOA2 have the same date and now my case its in the Ciudad Juárez consulate, Im waiting the invitation letter hardcopy. I suggest you call to NVC and get you case number, so you can track it in the CEAC website.

Jun/03/2024 -- Received the Biometrics Reuse letter in our mailbox at home.

July 26/2024-- We received the physical letter with the notice that the N-400 interview was scheduled.

Sep/05/2024 -- N-400 Interview (passed!)

Sep/05/2024 -- Oath Ceremony will be scheduled. 

Sep/06/2024 -- We got an email with the notice that the Oath Ceremony was scheduled. 

Sep/17/2024 -- We received the physical letter with the info about the Oath Ceremony.

Thanks for the responses, Frips and M@rita. I have been trying to get to the NVC by phone but the call is cut off almost immediately. I will try later. To M@rita, I hope things go well at the Consulate in Ciudad Juarez. And I hope I can find out something soon.

My fiancé called last night at 10pm ECT, was his first call and went through and he only wait like 20 min and got the information really fast from the person that attended the call. Hope you get the same luck as him. And thanks for your comment :)
