I applied for a Diversity Visa but I also wanted to apply for a Visitor's Visa to the USA. Will that affect me getting the Diversity Visa? Does anyone know if I can apply for more than one visa at a time to USA?

I'm from Morocco and applied for the Diversity Visa to USA. I heard that a lot of people don't get it that's why I was thinking of applying for the visitor visa to USA. Is it possible to apply for two visas? or would it be better to wait to see if I get it?

if you are going to apply for a visitors visa, you have to prove very strong ties to your country. Casablanca is a tough consulate to get a visitor visa from to visit the U.S. (good job/money saved in bank/house etc)

As for it affecting your Diversity Visa application, I do not know the answer to that. But good luck!:star:

What do you mean by "applied" for DV? Are you a 2015 selectee with a submitted DS260, or have you just entered for the 2016 lottery?

Whichever, as above you will need to show strong ties to your home country for a visitors visa. If you have a winning entry for 2015 in process no it will not affect that. But that could affect the visitor application as by sending in the DS form you have clearly demonstrated immigrant intent.

No, you did not apply for a Diversity Visa.

You played in the Diversity Visa lottery and you may or may not win a Diversity Visa once the results are published.

Now, to your question.

I don't think playing the DV lottery has any impact on a Tourist visa application.

I am sure the experts in this forum can provide a more intelligent answer.

Chances of winning the lottery is so low it does not really come into it.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

In our consulate playing the lottery has a strong impact on any non-immigrant visa application, as it shows that you already have a mind of immigrating.

This is a well-worn DV urban legend.... Let me guess, you know that because "someone" told you, or even better, you read it on the Internet. But I bet the person who told you that is not a consular officer,,,

Entering the lottery is NOT immigrant intent. Winning the lottery is NOT immigrant intent. Winning the lottery and submitting a DS230 or DS260 IS immigrant intent.
