Hello there!

My husband and I are in the process of filling these forms out and had a few questions. I am the beneficiary of the petition. He is an american citizen and I am Canadian.

For the I-130

  • Question 9: about "your relative", it asked for their SSN (if applicable). I was told to write none or n/a for this field, but adobe reader will not allow me to fill in that area with letters, only numbers. Thoughts?
  • Question 8: For place of marriage, do we put the city or county?
  • Question 21: Although I have spent summers in the US, do we leave this part as N/A since we have not lived together aside from my short (few week) trips?
  • Question 22: Since I'm not in America, do we need to fill out the second part of this question about an American consular post in my country or just leave it as N/A?

For the 325A

  • City and country of residents of petitioner's parents: My spouce's father is deceased. What would be put in this location? None? N/A?
  • If nationality is American, do we put "American" for the Citizenship/Nationality question? Or do we just put USA?
  • For employment in the past 5 years, both my husband and I have been students. I read in the sample forms here on VisaJourney that no amount of time should be left unaccounted for and that periods of unemployment need to be marked in this question. Do we just write "Unemployed" if we were students? Or do we specify that we were students during our study periods?

Thanks in advance! We really want to get this right the first time.

I-130:

1. I left it blank and when I printed it out wrote 'N/A'.

2. I put the city and country. (i.e. Kerken, Germany)

3. Correct, in this case living means residing together. Visits wouldn't be counted as such.

4. I left all of that blank, too. It reads "Complete Information Below If...", so if you're not applying for AOS, then it doesn't pertain to you, but still don't leave a single thing blank. Enter 'None' or 'N/A' for anything that you don't need to fill in, otherwise you risk an RFE.

G-325a:

1. Just write "Deceased". If it makes you feel better, then write his last city, country of residence and in parenthesis "(Deceased)".

2. I put ''USA'' since it's how it stands in the US passport.

3. If you were only students (with no part-time jobs) during the whole 5 years, then just enter "Unemployed" and in parenthesis "(Student)".
