Just curious... How are the names issued on your card? I have 2 middle names and I just recently realized that it only has the first initialed. This also happened when I was approved for a visa.

For example, my name is Mary Jo Anne Smith but both my EAD/AP and US credit card list me as Mary J Smith.

I was at the California DMV a few weeks back. I had passed my driving test and they took my EAD and inputed it into their system. They said wait 2-4 weeks for my California DL to be sent to me in the mail. I get a notice today that they were unable to process it because of my legal presence not being verified. It was - with my EAD? But is it because my Canadian license as my middle name completely spelt out? And my EAD only has my 1 initial?

Not likely. it's a normal thing in the U.S. for the middle name to be only initialed. My EAD also has middle name initialed as well. Your reason for not being found in the system is probably because you were just newly issued the EAD card. It normally takes a short time for newly issued USCIS documents to be registered in the system. It's best to apply usually about a week or 2 after issuance, by then it's registered in the system. I'll give it another try now if I were you. Looks like you did very early based on your timeline of receiving it.

8/14/2014: Mailed AOS package: I-130, I-485, I-765.

8/18/2014: Accepted in Chicago. Transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

8/21/2014: Received NOA 1. I-130, I-485, I-765 in mail.

8/25/2014: Received biometrics in mail. Scheduled for 9/8/2014

9/24/2014: EAD approved. 36 Days!

10/01/2014: EAD mailed.

10/03/2014: Received EAD card.

10/14/2014: I-485 moved to testing and interview.

1/28/2015: Interview scheduled for 3/4/2015.

1/31/2015: Received interview notice.

3/4/2015: Interview completed and APPROVED!

3/5/2015: Welcome notice mailed and I-130 Approved.

3/10/2015: Welcome notice and I-130 approval notice received.

3/12/2015: Green card mailed.

12/07/2017: Notice of action issued. (IOE)

12/26/2017: Biometrics.

01/23/2019: Interview Scheduled for 2/27/2019.

02/27/2019: Joint I-751/N-400 interview. N-400 recommended for approval.

05/16/2019: N-400 APPROVED! Placed in line for oath ceremony.

05/17/2019: Oath ceremony notice mailed.

Yeah, I went about a week after my EAD. Thank you, I guess I'll need to make another appointment at the DMV. Woo...

Lights, I was at the DMV today (changing my name... Finally!) and I asked about this. The woman said that your cdl should have the same exact expiration date as your EAD. She couldn't give any reasons why it wouldn't be the same.

Thank you for asking! That's what I thought too... I called the DMV and they said that their legal presence team hasn't been verified of my status with immigration. So I asked about my EAD and she didn't know... she said I need to make an appointment and show them my card again.
