K3 assigned case number but not CR1, am i on K3 boat?

Hi guys,

Our I130 was approved on Sep 10 2014 and I129f was approved next day i.e. Sep 11 2014.

Today i called NVC and lady told me that

I130 was recieved on Oct 8 2014 and not yet in system But

i129f is now in system (entered today) and gave me case number, IID and BID.

using that number i can log in to https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx website only to see following message. Nothing else...

K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case.

Does it mean i am on K3 route? or CR1/IR1 can come into play even if it gets into system after K3?

Hmmm ... You may want to talk to a supervisor at NVC to find out exactly.

When ur i-130 is approved they dont really process the i-129f.

In my case both of them were approved n when I talked to the NVC they told me there was no timeframe for the 1-129f, they couldnt give me any info or anything...

At the end, the i-130 moved forward n I never heard about my i-129f again.

Ur best bet is just to wait for the approved i-130 to get to NVC (about 2-3 weeks) n wait for the case number (2 weeks) - It was a month from USCIS approval to NVC case #, in my experience.

You could be, your should check the status here instead (NVC case number, not USCIS):

If your case number has been assigned an it has been routed to the embassy, then it will say "In transit". It means it is on its way to the embassy. Once it says "Ready" It means the embassy receive it.

I wish you good luck and hope the case gets send off to the embassy before the I-130 gets a case assigned at NVC:-)

Edit: If you get on the K3 route you could get your spouse within a few months with you, and later do AOS :-) much faster than CR1 route....

I spoke to them again and supervisor told me even if i129f has been assigned a case number only i130 will be processed. Period :|. Wait for i130 case number.

No doubt its faster and all i want to meet my spouse now (i am the benificiary), but i again spoke with Supervisor now and they told me even if i-129f has been assigned a case number before i-130, only i-130 will be processed and i-129f will stay at NVC.

That is too bad :-( I communicated with other people here on VJ just a week ago who had the same situation as you, and their I-129F was sent out to the embassy eventhough the I-130 was still at NVC without a case number assigned. I guess is just luck. I am sorry this wasn't you case :-(

I took K3 as IR1 was about to take 2 more months. I am in USA now and can tell you its worth waiting for 2 months and land on USA soil with your green card.
