What forms will be necessary when filing taxes?

We will be getting married in December and we will be living in TX, We are a same sex couple, We are kind of confused on what forms we will need to complete during the AOS process, His tax forms have always been simple to for him to fill out, But i'm guessing we will need to file separate forms? But I won't be working until I get the EAD etc etc.

Can anyone shed some light? especially if you are a same sex couple that lives in a state where they don't recognise same sex marriage :)

Tax forms have nothing to do with sexual orientation.

If you are married before the last day of the year (2014) then you may file a joint 2014 tax return with your spouse. You do not need to be working. You do not need a greencard. Tax filing is a separate government agency and not really related to your AOS.

You actually have to file nothing as the new immigrant who has not worked in the US. Your spouse could file Married Filing Separately, but his taxes will be higher than if he files jointly with his spouse.

The tax form is 1040 plus assorted other forms or schedules depending on income sources, etc. the US has a boatload of tax forms that supplement the basic 1040 or 1040A or 1040EZ.

Ahh! Okay, So even though it's a state that doesn't recognise same sex marriage, We could still do it? :)

The State of Texas has nothing to do with FEDERAL income tax filing. That is between you and the United States government. And there is no state income tax in Texas.
