Hi! I was just wondering how long it took for people to receive a notice of receipt when they filed. I sent my petition 10/11/14 and I still haven't received notice that they have my application. I looked at a lot of people's timelines and noticed that people received their NOA1 after about two weeks. I feel like I should have received a notification of receipt by now. I realize I sent the visa on a holiday weekend, but I'm getting nervous that they never even got my petition.

Please give any information you may have

Where did you send it from? I sent mine from Africa via DHL on October 11th and made sure to track it. It was signed for on October 15th, and I received my NOA1 today, October 20th.

I sent it from the United States via USPS and it was supposed to get there October 14,2014 according to the USPS. I didn't track it, but I should have got the I-1145 by now I feel which is the e-notification of receipt. It was the I-129F form to the Texas lockbox. I suppose I should have made sure to track it, but I didn't because I figured I would get the e-notification soon enough. I didn't send it priority either, because it was going to get there by October 14th which was a Tuesday and I sent it on a Saturday. I thought that was pretty good considering I sent it on a Columbus day weekend. Maybe I will receive the e-notification later today, but I'm starting to worry I should have received it by now.

It can take up to 30 days to receive your NOA1.

If you have electronic banking, you can check to see if your check has been cashed. That will at least give you an idea of if they received it.

K-1 from Haiti - NOA1: 5/27/2014; NOA2: 7/8 USCIS never updated to say that it was sent to the NVC (just in case you're as concerned about your status not updating as I was about mine)

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Is the NOA1 different than the e-notification of receipt? I understood it as different. The e-notification of receipt is just that saying that USCIS has received the application. I thought the NOA1 was different than that.

I believe the e-notification is the "unofficial letter of receipt" and then they send an official hard copy via snail mail. I however will not in all likelihood be receiving that hard copy as I am living abroad with unreliable postal service so I am using my e-notification as my NOA1.
