Obama To Allow 100,000 Haitians To Immigrate To U.S. Without Visas

There are priorities at play here; politically driven choices. That's why folks were allowed in the front of the line ahead of us. The system is only 'broken' because it's being blatantly abused for political ends.

i get that you simply can't agree with me and leave it alone. i just said that political priorities are at play. but that isn't the scope of the situation. because it's not just one singular line, we have natural disasters that require humanitarian effort - we have a ridiculous number of translator visas that have never been issued as promised in the middle east, etc etc. there are many reasons people come to the us. and if you think our immigration system doesn't need reform outside of political ends i don't know what experience you've had with the system. it needs work.

We (VJers) are living proof that the system needs reform, but when we say "reform" it means something entirely different than when the preznit speaks of "immigration reform". He's essentially abusing the terms. That's my point.

If he thinks the system is "broken", he should implement change through the legislature, not simply ignore existing laws or even worse, encourage folks to cross the border by dangling the prospect of amnesty by decree. That's the difference between representative government and a dictatorship.

i didn't even bring up obama. this is the reason nothing gets done with immigration (and everything else). i'm not interested in the political back and forth. you complain about it, but only to harp on obama. you simply can't see past the politics.

eta: we do not live under a dictatorship.

Give us the UncleBeer rundown on what needs to happen to reform immigration. Do you think there is nothing to reform if we continue to us the existing laws now, minus the political tampering?

I swear, if'n you find a Gary Thread about this, it'll be the same scope, focus, and topics.

Why not just use the advanced search tool, re-use some well-written words, instead?

Less Effort, IMO.

no no - I'm not saying one is the other, but (also) IMO, it's the same focus, same answer. Gary and I agreed on this stuff, ages past - nothings changed on his side or my side.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

According to the UN there are 1,000,000,000 people eligible for Asylum if they could only get to the US.

What is Obama doing for them?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Let them apply to the U.K., France, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and any other "good" country. Why just the U.S.?

Because despite being a dictatorship, ruled by a kenyan king whose sole intent is to destroy the kingdom, everyone knows that it just doesn't get any better than the US. America still has star power and that you can't simply turn off.
