Obama To Allow 100,000 Haitians To Immigrate To U.S. Without Visas

Could be that being from Sri Lanka landed your husband on the slow boat? Some consulates are infamous for legendary waiting times for AP..

However, women marrying men have longer wait times even though the highlighted is true. There was a discussion about this a long time ago when I first joined VJ.

The U.S. don't want women importing men. They feel the men will take away jobs from hard working American men.

do you think we're ever going to get immigration reform moving? i'm not talking about daca or humanitarian efforts. i'm talking about regular old family based visas/greencards. do you think the political climate will ever be conducive to politicians keeping their base happy and actually pulling off reform? i don't.

look how easy it is for ub and others here to post articles (not necessarily recent) to rile folks up. they want people to believe these issues (daca, haiti, marraige based visas) are connected in a way making it appear obama is stalling on immigration all while making loop holes for future democrats to break through the flood gates and get here easy peasy. that's bunk. anyone who pays attention to immigration knows that.

There's zero motivation for congress or the president to do anything about family based legal immigration. None. Zero. People have been complaining about since I first came to VJ back in 2007. It doesn't give either side a politcal advantage one way or the other, so neither side cares about it. That's the sad state of political affairs in this country presently.

My personal belief is that the president is doing this DACA thing for purely political reasons, while hiding behind the alleged "humanitarian crisis" There's people a lot worse off in the world than these teenagers that showed up at the border thanks to Obama's DACA policy. As I pointed out, these applications WILL and HAVE slowed down processing times for other applications. You can't just flood an already overburdened system with new applications and expect everything to run the way it has, which was already painfully slow.

i think you're right but i think it's not this way across the board. i didn't have had any issue bringing a canadian man over. if you know what i mean.

So you believe it is easier for couples from Westernized countries. :secret:

I think there are just as many women that fall victim to fraud as the men. The MENA countries are well known for this. There are always a few running threads about it in the upper forums.

but there are more checks for mena aren't there? longer waits that surely keep many men from ever getting here fraudently in the first place.

yeah, i do. it's sort of obvious

Yes but my husband isn't MENA. And the embassy did us really dirty. Including telling the local police we told the embassy about them asking us for a bribe. I didn't know it was legal for them to give out personal information on a visa applicant.

I know he isn't from a MENA country. My post was in general to the statement of more men falling victim to fraud. I was simply pointing out that there are many women who do as well.

I am sure it is because in many cases people make use of B/VWP privileges to avoid the K/IR/CR process.

I should have done that too, instead of sweating over K1-reissuance.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

i agree. i'll be the first to admit that i knew zero about immigration when i first started because it wasn't on my radar. and i don't know how many family members i talked to about it who felt the same way as me, we generally have no idea what it takes to marry and live with a non citizen in america until it happens to us. and then, we see how broken the system is and wonder why no one does anything about it.

i don't doubt for one moment that the president is moving forward with daca for political reasons. he said he was going to do something about these kids and i guess its one of the campaign promises he's actually trying to keep. i don't doubt that daca cases are slowing down family based visa either. i'm just saying it's pointless to blame obama or start rattling off about future democrats or ebola carriers or isis infiltration.

i'm saying, politics completely aside: if you have daca, haiti and regular family based visas and they all use the same system to process but the system itself is broken, what good does it do to point the finger at anything other than the broken system?

Hahahahaha it is. I just wish there was a we could get things moving. We had to file a waiver for a misrep as well. I did it in August. We will see what happens.

that's horrible. i've got my fingers crossed for you guys.

There may be more MENA men who go through Administrative Processing because of the terrorist activities linked to their countrymen, but I believe there are many RUB women who go through the Administrative Processing part as well. I'm not sure of the numbers on either one, just going on what I've read here in the forums.

They can, but it's much more prevalent in the higher fraud countries.
