We need a national ID. Uniform documentary standards, no point of service cost (can be funded through a surtax of some kind). Once everyone has it, require they use it to vote.

This state by state thing is unbelievably stupid.

Exactly!

The ID picture ID proves you are who you say you are. Verifying the voter registration enrollment proves citizenship. Nice try at a deflection.

BTW A military ID would not prove citizenship. But do prattle on

How so? Round here we just go to our town hall, give our name and address and boom, we're registered to vote. We can even register by mail, no id needed.

Sometimes, it's like fishing in a barrel, isn't it?

The only proof of citizenship that should be acceptable is a valid US passport.

I am still calling BS on their feigned attempt to solve a problem that doesn't exist...

Which one? If we're talking about something that proves I'm an American citizen, I believe my passport cost me a little over $200.

you got screwed. mine cost $135....so did everyone else's...$165 now

here a state ID is $20, and it states citizen, lpr, organ donor...etc on it.

NEXT?

It still doesn't address fraud.

Citizenship is not under the purview of the states, therefore a state issued ID, has not validity as proof of citizenship. DLs and ID can be counterfeit, are prone to errors, which in essence defeats the purpose of the legislation.

The only picture IDs that provides proof of citizenship are valid US passport and the certificate of naturalization.

BC & SS card will get you by on the state level.

I got the card. It's easier when driving across the border. You're in a southern state, you never drive into Mexico?

yes, I go farther too. so I needed the book
