Wonder why they would make you get a visitor visa? Where you in the states very recently? Maybe they are just saying that because you mentioned dress fitting and not just visiting... I don't know, sometimes they seems to have a strange way of looking at things.

Glad you got your NOA2 though!! :D

So many NOA2s with NOA1 dates close to ours..! Congrats to all recent approvals, what a relief it must be. :D

To follow up on my earlier post about getting my Norwegian passport renewed before I move - I was counseled by the Norwegian embassy in the US to not do this, as it could cause issues to have different names on passport and other documents (green card, US driver's license etc) when traveling back to the states from abroad. Apparently even if you use your old name on the tickets to match the name in your passport, you could still encounter trouble at PoE. So, that's a no go - we'll just have to plan a trip to Houston to renew it there before we go on our honeymoon!

It may not be relevant to everyone else, but I thought maybe some of you might find it helpful to know what at least the Norwegian embassy said about it. :)

Thank you so much for posting this!!!

As you might remember mine expires in December and I was asking the embassy if I can keep it or renew and they just gave me a very diplomatic "we can't speculate on your case, especially since your petition haven't reached NVC yet". How hard can it be to answer whether or not it is okay to keep my passport if I go before July and then just renew over there? :P

So thank you so much for sharing this, so helpful! I will still have to double check if there is enough "time left" on my passport once I actually get my NOA2 but this is a way more helpful answer then the one I got from the embassy.

He did not mention I was from Canada, as the lady was rude with him and completely refused to transfer. So that is why we call back. CPB told us bring the visa packet with you and state you do not want to activate it. USCIS say I need a visa. So we'll check for a 3rd opinion.

I will be there for maximum a week. And mostly held in hostage by my inlaws, haha.

I was in the states at the beginning of January (December 30, Jan 5). And I was last week too. POE was a pain to me when I entered, which I don't get why because I never overstay. I had my return ticket and I always have a letter from my employer with me.

But on the other hand, THANKS!! I was not expecting to see the date when I logged on. I was on Skype with fiancé and he could hear me bounce and clap my hands as I was crying lol

Ah that would explain why they didn't say you could just go there on VWP, because she didn't even bother to figure out if you were from a country eligible for that.

So annoying that all of them way different thinks but you would think CPB would have the correct answer since they will be the once you'll meet when you're there? But it kind of feels weird if you would have to bring the packet and say you don't want to activate it. Why not just leave it at home until you actually want to activate it?

Maybe it was a pain because you're there a lot? I know you're supposed to be away for a reasonable amount of time. At least for me it's a good sign because I almost felt waiting only 3 months since my last visit was too soon :P

Good luck with your inlaws, I know the feeling ;) Had a weekend with them planning some of our wedding last time I visited lol.

Longest I stayed was 2 weeks. They just got hooked on the fact I visited twice in January. I normally go 3times per year. He asked me how I could afford to do it and asked twice the lenght of my stay. His face hardened when I mentioned my fiancé. I guesthe guy just did not had a coffee this morning haha. My trip cost me 300 max. I stay at Brian's place and no food to pay.

And yeah, we showed up on January 25 at a party and my mother in law (who was drunk) when on a rant about dresses. So, we went on the Monday. So I know that week will be wedding planning and running around lol.

Edit:Typing on a cellphone sucks.

Yeah if they figure out you have a boyfriend or fiance they really like to give you a hard time. I remember when I went to the embassy to get a student visa and they asked where I was going to live. I was honest and said I was going to live with my boyfriend (we weren't engaged at the time) and he immediately asked if we were planning on getting married :P

Nice! So you found your dress? I have never been a "girly" girl but that really changed while trying on dresses. So much fun! :D

Its paid off, I just need to go back for fittings, hence why we called for imformation. It takes 2-3 months and I don't want to be in a rush.

It is a beautiful dress :)
