Sounds like a good responsible plan to me. If you are going to run around city streets with weapons, you are decreasing everyone's safety, you should foot the bill. You should be able to get a lower premium if you do not plan on carrying your gun around in urban areas and just use it in restricted areas like a gun range. A higher premium for hunting, because we all know hunters have a habit of shooting each other and the highest premium for those who want to pretend they are Clint Eastwood.

I've never seen a statisitc on homeowners who own guns. Households may not necessarily be homeowners and probably don't pay homeowners insurance. Either way, its just another way to milk their customers.

Liability insurance doesn't solve the basic problem that too many guns end up in the hands of idiots. I rather see stiffer criminal penalties for firearms crimes and negligence. And have it so people who F up can never legally own a gun again.

And also when your 3 year old blows their brains out with the gun they find under your pillow, nobody gets to say you've suffered enough already You haven't.

I'm at work right now and I'm hoping and praying my guns aren't out misbehaving right now. According to the Home Safety Council, falls are the leading cause if unintentional death in the home claiming nearly 6,000 lives a year. How about making homeowners pay more liability insurance for owning ladders over 6' tall?
