October 2014 Filers (I-130 Petition) CR1 Spouse Visa Process

Please share your updates with dates (when I-130 was approved, when was shipped off, etc) so people reading have an idea of the current timeframe for each step.

Our NOA2 was issued on 04/01, USCIS shipped it 8 business days later, NVC received it on 04/16 and until now, no case number yet - just called this morning. They keep saying it will take 30 days to assign a number.

You should receive the letter soon if the Nvc has your e-mail you will also receive an e-mail from them

If you are able to log in on the NVc website then you must have your NVC case and invoice number.

Have you fill out the DS-261 choice of agent form? that should of been the first thing you did and the Aos fee will change to the amount to pay.

I got the NVC case no and invoice no when i called em. But they are saying still my case is not invoiced. Its been 37 days since USCIS has accepted our petition.

It might take some time, but if your case is at NVC now the USCIS has nothing to do with it and it does not matter how long your case was at USCIS. The NVC is another part of the process and you will only deal with them now.

This is a super weak questions and I feel kind of embarrassed to ask this.... But for NVC, most of the documents will be sent as copies right? We don't need to send originals of birth certificates/marriage certificates/other documents as NVC do not return these documents?

All of the IV/Civil documents can be copies. You will take the originals to the interview. Make sure that all documents are from the proper authority to avoid a checklist at NVC. AOS forms must be originals with original signatures.

Much better to ask questions than to worry over things or potentially get an NVC checklist.

I'd give it a business day or two more for NVC to fully get your case set up. If you still can't pay AOS fee or submit DS-261, I'd give NVC a call. There could be a technical problem with your case that will only be resolved if you call them and let them know what's going on. Most of the time, the NVC welcome email and AOS invoice will generate within a day or two of the case number being assigned.

As j&ana already stated, the length of time since your petition was approved at USCIS carries no weight here. It's all about when the case number was assigned and when the case was set up on the system(s) at NVC.

I hope it all gets worked out soon and you can start the NVC part of the process!

Forgot to say I got my ds-261 reviewed over the phone on April 22nd 2015, just called and ask if it was reviewed and the nice rep said no but if you'd like Ican review over the phone right now and I said of course I want you too, thanks it only took her 1 min to review it next day got and email with the review and IV Fee.
