Medical Today

Well i thought i would post a fewlines about my medical today. I am still awaitng my police certificate from overseas - but i booked the medical to get that over with - and today was the day!!!

I found the bentinck mansions quite easy by using Bond Street underground - as you come out of the tube ( which also seems to be a small shopping centre) I crossed the road and walked right - look for debenhams - and then you see Marleybone Lane - the diagram in packet 3 is good.

I arrived an hour by accident - so i waited in the waiting room for a while. All in all everyone was very friendly -and the doctor was keen to ensure i undertood what was going to happen and why.

I have been panicking all week about it - irrational i know! and it seemed to affect blood pressure - the doctor checked it again as the last thing and confirmed it was down from the first reading - so he beleives there is nothing tobe concerned about there.

Just te reassure anyone who is waiting - stay calm ( easy for me to say !!) and it really is very straight forward

I'm glad it went well! It seems like lots of people have the exact same experience - the doctor says blood pressure is high due to nervousness then takes another reading later and it's fine. I know my fiance did.

It wasn't the medical itself that got me nervous, it was waiting for the results. No idea why, I had no reason to think there was anything wrong with my health. I guess it's just part of the process.

Glad it went ok though, good luck with the rest of your journey :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Yeah, I kept clenching. The doc told me to relax but the cold metal just made that impossible.

LOL - I was exactly the same.... they were great at the medical and everything went smoothly. The doctor was lovely and the nurse was fantastic. I am needle phobic and started to sniffle when I saw the needle so she had me turn my head and honestly I didnt feel a thing. We talked about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie while she did the injections so I had something else to concentrate on. It was only when I left that I started thinking "what if I have something that I dont know about?", and "what if I have something incurable". I dont know why I worried about it at all because like Purple Hibiscus, I had no reason whatsoever to think there was anything wrong with me. I was so relieved when I got to the embassy interview and got the approval. I have to say though that I did wonder later on "what if something came up on the medical which the embassy weren't bothered about or think I already know about!?". How ridiculous is that?

No, they aren't checking for VJers. They're checking for sausages you may be planning on smuggling into the country since American sausages are yucky.
