getting EAD card before GC

Hi all,

I'm sorry if I'm asking, probably, the same question that someone before me has already asked, but I would like to

be sure about the following:

when you receive the EAD before the GC, and once you'll be receiveing the GC, the EAD actually is not needed anymore right? So it means that after 1 year when the EAD expires, if you have the GC, it is not needed the renewal of the EAD, right?

Sorry if it sounds a stupid question, but on the back of the paper received along with the EAD, they don't specify this, and they just confused me with all their information...........Thanks again.

AOS:01/29/2007 received Permanent Resident Card (GC)

ROC:04/11/2009 received Permanent Resident Card (GC) expiring in 2019!!!!

N-400:

on 05/21/2010 Sent out docs to Arizona Lockbox Facility address via USPS

on 06/30/2010 Biometrics

on 09/24/2010 Interview Day - Passed the Test

on 10/19/2010 Oath - USA CITIZEN!!!!!

on 10/20/2010 I requested the US Passport

on 11/02/2010 the US Passport was received by Priority Mail

on 11/03/2010 @ the Social Security Office I changed my status from Resident to US Citizen

ON THE 3RD OF NOV.2010 MY JOURNEY ENDS, WHICH STARTED IN DEC. 2005!!!!!!!THANKS TO VJ & VJ PPL!!!!!!!!

Right, once you have the green card, you are able to work and no longer need an EAD card.

2001 Met

12/06/2006-------Mailed I-130/1-485

12/16/2006--------Recieved NOA 1 (I-130 & I-485)

12/18/2006--------Touched I-130/I-485

01/20/2007--------Biometrics

05/10/2007 -- Interview, Approved!

05/22/2007 GREEN CARD arrives!!!

02/2009 - File to lift conditions

I-765

12/14/2006--- Mailed EAD App.

01/20/2007--- Biometrics

02/09/2005-------Sent in request to Congressional office for assistance with expediting EAD.

02/13/2007 -------- EAD Approved!

02/26/2007 - ------EAD received

Removal of Conditions:

05/12/2009 -- Overnighted application by USPS express mail (VSC).

05/14/2009 -- Green Card expired.

05/23/2009 --- Check cleared bank.

05/26/2009 -- Received NOA (NOA date May 15, 2009, guess they aren't deporting me).

05/29/2009- Biometrics Notice date

06/01/2009- Received Biometrics Letter

06/18/2009 - Biometrics

09/23/2009 - date of decision to approve (letter received), just waiting for card. No online updates whatsoever.

You are correct, the EAD is just a temporary work authorisation whilst you wait for your GC. Once you have your GC you do not need to renew your EAD. You just need to remove conditions after 2 years on your GC, well before the 2 years is up you have to start the wheels in motion, AGAIN.

Hopefully you will not have to renew your EAD, that will only be needed if you are caught up in the AOS process taking forever. If that is the case then you need to apply for renewal, at least, 90 days before it expires.

When you get your Green Card, You no longer have any use for your EAD card since the GC will be the document that will prove your eligibility to work in the states.

Basically the green card replaces everything that you received prior to it such as EAD and also Advance Parol (if you had gotten one).

Once you receive your GC the EAD is no longer needed to work, you were right!

October 31, 2016 I-130 sent to Chicago Lockbox

November 4, 2016 Received text case sent to Nebraska

November 10, 2016 Received Hard copy of NOA1

Her passport has been stamped and her GC is on the way, so she doesn't need to worry about the EAD at all anymore.

Once again, guys, THANKS SO MUCH for all yr fast replies, I was a little bit confused last nite, about this matter as soon as I got the EAD in our mailbox.
