Dave and I got our visa interview for May 17th! The letter came in the mail today!!

We also got the application forms for our new apartment! (for when we move back to the states in mid June!) Today is exciting so far!!!!

Hopefully this means good news for everyone else as well!!!!

Yay for Marina & Dave!!! I'm so happy for you guys! Has that police cert come in yet? You should have plenty of time to get it in now even if it hasn't come in :D And....you have plenty of time to make it back to the US for your wedding date!!!! So very very happy for you!

:D

Karoline

Hey!! Thanks so much!!

And yeah, the police cert from Australia came in about 1 week ago so we have most everything ready for the interview! We still need to finish getting the docs together to show that he wont be a public charge...but that is just a matter of getting them all together.

Dave is going to self-sponsor (because London allows that) so hopefully we'll be okay. I am going to fill out the I-134 forms just in case and my mom is filling it out too if they say Dave doesn't have enough, then they say I dont' have enough! So we have all the bases covered on that I think!!

How are you guys doing on getting all your stuff together?

We've had all of our stuff together now for a couple of weeks, so we're just waiting for May 4th (his interview) to come around :P I'm glad that we have everything ready, but in a way it seems to make the time go by slower because we have nothing else we have to do and are just waiting.

On the positive side, it has given me time to focus on the wedding. We are doing a really small thing, but at one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. We are having the wedding and reception in their wine room. I've already taken a look at it and the ambience is just incredible. We aren't having a standard bridal party or procession, but will have close members of family and friends standing on each side of the aisle holding flowers and as I walk down the aisle I will take a flower from each one and build my bouquet that way, and then walking to stand beside my love and become his wife...ahhhh, I can't wait.

Now, where's a time machine when you need one?

:P

Oh wow! that sounds really nice! We're not having a traditional bridal party or procession either. We're doing a hand fasting ceremony in it's place though. Several members of our family and really close friends will be chosen to tie our hands together with ribbon symbolizing bringing us together and 'tying the knot'! After all, while the marriage may be between me and Dave we couldn't be who we are without our families and friends and I'm sure we'll need them in the future as well...so we thought it appropriate for them to help 'tie' us together.

I'm so excited for you though having your interview so soon!

Thanks! And your interview is not far behind ours. :D Yay! I read about the hand fasting ceremony on your wedding website. What a great idea! It sounds very very lovely.

To Karin und Otto, I'm really happy to see that Karin received her visa yesterday. We scheduled Paul's flight for 10 days after his interview, so I was anxious to see when she would receive her visa. Did she pick it up from the embassy or have it mailed? Also, has she had time to write up a quick review of her interview in Frankfurt? I'm sure you guys are pretty busy, but I've just been curious to hear how things went for her. No rush... just my curiosity getting the better of me

To John and Diana, hang in there! I've been watching your NVC thread and keep hoping we'll all hear good news very soon. I know it has to be so hard for you guys to keep up a positive attitude after the RFE and now this delay at NVC, but please know we are all thinking of you and pulling for you! Hugs!

Good luck to all!

Karoline

Sorry my mistake. Our NOA2 is approved on 4/9. As I heard, it takes about 2, 3 month before we will hear anything regarding package 3 from China. It sucks.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by your question! It appears you originally ask Otto if they know if you should be doing anything in between getting NOA2 and Package 3...is that right? Or are you wondering if you should have received Packet 3 by now? Sorry for the confusion...I'm probably just thinking too much!

There is nothing that we had to do between getting NOA2 and Packet 3, but that was in the UK so maybe it's different in China. I would recommend that you start getting documents ready for packet 3 and for the interview. Like police checks and things like that as they can take a while to come. You can see what your embassy requires in the embassies section here on VJ. There should be a list there that explains all of the forms that are in Packet 3 and what you need to have. If you go ahead and fill these out -MAKE SURE THEY ARE UP TO DATE COPIES- then you should have everything ready to pop in the mail when you finally receive packet 3!

Good luck!

Marina + Dave:

Thany you for your respnose. I think I have to wait until we receive package 3 to find out what kind of document we need to prepare. I think I will contact NVC next week to see if they forward the case to embassy in China. Thanks again.

After your NOA2 you should (I think we all did/will) contact NVC (the telephone number is on your NOA2) via telephone (you can inquire by email as well) to see if they've received your case/file - once the do...Get your Case number from them.. and with any luck, they'll also tell you when it shipped to China. From your Service Center to NVC allegedtly takes anywhere from 2 week to 4 weeks - apparently it depends on the alignment of the moon and stars...

As for how long it takes to get the Packet 3 - once your case/file is received by the consulate - apparently depends on the embassy/consulate itself - Germany was VERY fast - only a few days - that is apparently the exception... Truthfully only other China-filers (or those that may know) would be able to shed light on that... =)

In The Mean Time

Once you have your NVC case number - you/your-fiancé can schedule his/her medical (using that new number) - he/she can also use that number to inquire with your local Embassy/Consulate as to if they received your case and for any other inquiries you may have.

You (the USC) should be preparing all the documents that are universal to every petition (affidavit of support, further proof of ongoing relationship, gathering any original documents you used in your I129F, and getting them ready to ship to China) - you'll also want to check the Embassy section/reviews to read about any specifics China may have as far as requirements or quirks. (Also, most will require a police certification - might want to start checking on that.)

The foreign fiancé can be preparing the other universal documents - such as:

DS-156

DS-156k

DS-230

(Keep in mind, they may ask for additional/different forms-check embassy section to be certain)

That's what we (and most) did after the NOA2 (besides kind of loose sleep waiting...as many still are..)

Hope that helps...

No probs! Hopefully you'll have more luck talking to the NVC than I did! I never ever received a letter from them even saying they had received our case!! I emailed them over and over and finally weeks later they sent me an email saying they did have my case and gave me our new case number. But I never received a hard copy of a letter from the NVC -which I think most people do at some point. Anyway, about the same time I was going to call to see if our case had been forwarded, we received the Packet 3 from London!

Give them a call and hopefully they can tell you exactly where your case is now! As I'm sure you have been told...once the embassy gets your case, things start moving A LOT quicker!

One more question for you. As I read somewhere, in addition to the 1-134 form (affidavit of support), I need to get a letter from my employer to prove that I am currently working in my department. Is that true? If it is true, do you know where I can find a template for that letter?

thank you very much,

Jack
