I don't know the exact process in China, but the consulate will have to get your petition first, won't they? Meaning it will have to go to the NVC first, then to the consulate.

Or will they issue the packets based on electronic receipt of your petition? (Even if so, NVC will still have to process it and give it the new case number.)

well actually i do have some money saved for our visa and aos but i am the worker here and have no time off at present to go visit him. I'm just hoping to get a few days for the interview. That's up in the air too!!! God, I miss him. We petitioners have to be able to prove support and as I have no co-signer--- I'm it. Must keep working and waiting. sigh

I'm in the same exact situation. I am the one working and I am saving my time off for the wedding and the honeymoon. Everyday I'm tempted to go ahead and just buy a ticket, even though I know we need to save the money and I know that I need to save my time off. Plus, he has already found somebody to take over his flat, so he is a bit of a "visitor" in his own place and is sleeping on the couch. So, there is really no room for me even if I did fly there. I still wish I could very much though, but I'm with you...keep working and waiting... Or maybe I'll try to win the lotto like Otto (hehe, that rhymed) ;)

Ok...so...how about this...? I'll be Lotto Otto for the day.. I'll donate $1.00US (big spender) to the "Lets Retire" cause...

Tonights Mega Million Drawing (Texas Lotto) is estimated at $12,000,000. (Takes 5 Numbers between 1 and 56, and 1 number between 1 and 46).

Equal split to those contributing the first 5 then final 1 numbers...if we win...anyone want in? just pick a number and post it today (quicker the better so I have time to play them)...I wont pick a number - so more can play (woo hoo..all 7 of us)..

Or, can just shake your head and say..."he's nuts"...

Will post the combined numbers and participants here so theres not sneaking off to the bahamas... ;)

Thank you for your reply. Did you have a chance to contact NVC before? If you did, what is its contact information? does NVC has online tracking system same as USCIS so that I can check the status online?

Many thanks,

Jack

There is no online way to track your case when it is at NVC - you can call them to get your case number - they do have an email you can inquire, but from what I've learned, it's pretty slow - much faster to call. The good news is they don't really hold on to your case for very long at all before sending it out to your embassy.

After your NOA2 - wait a few days before calling the number on your NOA2.. (it seems to take a few days - maybe a week depending on when it was approved to get to NVC) - if it is there, they will tell you - otherwise give a day or so longer..

Once it is sent to the embassy, there is a kind of way to track the DHL packages to the embassy, but it's not a whole lot of help. - only takes a few days to get there anyway.

Once it is at the Embassy - you can call the embassy to check status - but I wouldn't call too often..

Hope that helps..

You CAN call the State Department here in the states after the embassy has received your case to see if you're on their system yet. Its a way to get the same information w/out hassling the embassy. I'd suggest trying a few days after the petition has arrived there.

I don't have that number handy, but I posted it in this thread (a few pages ago) for John&Diana.

Hmmm, yeah off topic, probably a good idea :) I'll keep an eye out for it. I mean with a name like Lotto Otto, how could we not win? ;)
