Hi SandM, yes, it is within the usual timeframe. If you don't get the biometrics appointment letter within 30 days from your NOA1 receipt date, call USCIS and tell them about it. They then should send

You betcha! I think that the hard part is finally over. I read in the September ROC forum that CSC has been rolling out their approvals already. That was so quick. I keep thinking that in 10.5 months I get to start the whole process over again with the N-400 application. It seemed a lifetime ago that I was doing the K1 application. I think that was the worst one.

Just wanted to update for future reference: I had no problems at all at the ASC. Just presented my permanent resident card and it was all done within 10 minutes or so. It helped that there were few other applicants being processed, but I was impressed with the professionalism and courtesy displayed by USCIS personnel. Here's hoping the next phase is as smooth.

Also, quick question: I'll have to travel to Canada soon, and then to the UK in the summer; I assume a valid passport and the USCIS letter (duly stamped with the "biometrics processing stamp" that I received when I completed my biometrics) will be all that's needed?

Make sure you have the NOA1 that states that your green card is extended for a year. (I only say this because it was my biometrics appointment notice that was stamped with the "processing" stamp, not my NOA). My kids and I are traveling to Canada in 2 weeks and I plan to take our passports, expired green cards, the NOA1s and the stamped biometrics letters, just to be sure all bases are covered.

The K-1 Visa journey for myself and my two K-2 children:

K-1: NOA1 2011-8-10; NOA2 2012-1-12; Interview 2012-4-24; Visa issued 2012-9-17; POE (Sarnia) 2012-9-26; Wedding! 2012-10-02
AOS: NOA1 2012-11-20; Biometrics 2012-12-14; AP/EAD approved 2013-1-11; Interview 2013-1-31; 2-yr Green cards in hand 2013-2-9 (101 days total)

ROC: NOA1 11-7-14; Biometrics 12-1-14; 10-yr Green cards ordered 4-13-15! (157 days total)

Can somebody post their experience of traveling with an expired GC and the extension letter ? I'm thinking about taking a trip next month, but my card will be expired by then. I have the extension letter is that all I need to travel?

Ah damn, thanks for the clarification. Has anyone ever misplaced that letter and asked for a replacement or something? I'm trying to find mine at the moment...
