I nave a question regarding the I864 form. I already have completed one for my husband who has been in the US for close to 2 years now, we are just waiting for our interview now. However we have a family friend who is already here in the US and her husband is copleting paperwork for ner permanent residency card, but he needs a cosponsor fof the I864 and has asked me to be the cosponsor for them. Im not sure if this is allowed or not since I already have an I864 on file for my husband. Does anyone know if this is allowed/ok? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

hi

of course, as long as you make enough over the poverty guidelines you can be a joint sponsor of as many as you like

you have to make enough to cover yourself, your husband, any dependents that you have plus the other beneficiary

Yes, it is perfectly ok. I agree with the above, as long as your income is above the poverty level for your household size, you can be a sponsor. Also you can combine your income with your husband's as well. If he doesn't want to be a sponsor along with you, then you have to make enough on your own and prove your share of the income, i.e. employment letter/paystubs and w2.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Make sure you read the fine print on the I-864.

Personally, unless it was my very close family (like my daughter, parent or sibling) I would never joint sponsor someone.
