HB1 visa - how hard/easy is it to find a job in marketing/BD field ?

Hi,

I am currently living in London, UK working as a Buisness development executive for a local company. I have been looking to go to the US for years now however now I have reached 25 I feel this is the best time for me and my boyfriend.

I am very familiar with the United States due to owning a house in Florida, I regulary visit. I do however now want to move and live there (any part of America I am happy with - California would be ideal though).

I have a good few years experience and a degree with a marketing, pr and BD background. I have been seeking advice now for a while in regards to my options (which I can see are very slim). I have been told the best option is a HB1 visa. Could anyone please advise me how likely this is for my type of work and background? How long the process takes? And how it works in regards to sponsorship?

I have been reaching out to many companies in the US however I'm not having much luck as soon as they see I need sponsoring. Does anyone have advice on that also? Or is there another route I can take?

Many Thanks

You mention a boyfriend. Has he a route?

Getting a transfer with your current employer has many advantages.

Hi Boiler,

My boyfriend has not got a route lined up, his background is within sports consultantcy, mainly rugby world and coaching. Doesn't seem to an area which can get him in either! Maybe I'm wrong...

Unfortunately my company are not global otherwise I definately would look for a transfer!

H1b allows you to bring a Husband but not a BF. But no ability to work... Sometimes called the visa from hell for that reason.

There are rugger buggers here but not aware of anybody who has migrated through that route. Football (Soccer) I have come across.

Networking is obviously key, not really sure what you do, I think of sales when I see that description but may be somewhat simplistic.
