I called the State Department this morning and they told me that my fiancee's appointment has been set for Valentines Day. I think this is a pretty good sign for us. I'm so excited right now. I'm gonna start looking for plane tickets today. Does anyone know if I can make a reservation for my fiancee, in the case the visa takes more than a week or to to get to her?

I would say give it few extra days, maybe a week or two just in case, the worst case scenario you'll have to exchange her tickets and you'll pay like $100-150 dollars for it.

I would suggest waiting two weeks. This will give time for her to get the visa and her belongings packed. I know you are excited and want her here soon, but be patient. Hopefully she is coming for the remainder of your lives together. Don't rush her or yourself.

I suggest your buy her tickets with your credit card. It's pretty easy to do it that way as long as you notify your credit card company first. She should book the tickets in her country and have the airlines/travel company fax you the authorization. Try to book her point of entry in an airport you will be waiting, if possible. That way, if there is a problem in customs, you are in the airport.

It is recommended that you buy a round trip ticket with a 90 day return. Unfortunately, sometimes the ladies don't like it here or are too homesick. If that happens, you aren't stuck for two one way tickets. If it works out, then you just paid a little extra for insurance.

Congratulations. You have much to do before she arrives. Also, remember to give her time to adjust to the time differences. She will need a minimum of two weeks just to begin to feel normal, so don't push her too hard in the beginning. Let her relax and remember she will get tired easily at first. The full adjustment to the time change can take six months.
