This guy really ticked someone off.

MOUNT HOPE, N.Y. – Authorities say a New York City man was shot within minutes of being released from an upstate prison.

Police say the 33-year-old ex-convict was shot in the Orange County town of Mount Hope around 10 a.m. Thursday, about 15 minutes after being released from the medium-security prison in nearby Otisville.

The man managed to get to a nearby train station, where someone called 911. State police say the man underwent surgery at Westchester Medical Center. Information on his condition hasn't been released.

Authorities say they are seeking two men spotted fleeing the scene in a car with Illinois plates.

Police say the man had intended to take a train back to Manhattan but was offered a ride at the last minute.

Makes you wonder what he was in for...

Found a little more info on a different site.

OTISVILLE – A prisoner at the Otisville State Correctional Facility, who was released after serving a 15-year term for a first-degree assault conviction, was shot 15 minutes later when he was taken to the nearby Metro-North Railroad station to take the train back to his hometown of New York City.

The 33-year-old man was shot several times in the upper body and was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where he underwent surgery, police said.

The two suspects fled in a gray or white Hyundai sedan and were believed to be in the New York City area, said State Police Captain Pierce Gallagher, who said a dragnet is underway there.

Shot several times for an assault? He must have done some permanent damage.

I think "who" he assaulted probably played a part in it.

I didn't want to say it, but for this type of rage, I'd wager sexual assault would be my first guess.

I read on another site that the two shooters went to pick the guy up from prison and he voluntarily got in the car. That makes me think it's more of a gang hit and maybe this guy talked to the wrong people about the wrong thing.

Police said the suspects unexpectedly picked up the victim from the prison.

“At some point when these gentlemen arrived, he ended up opting to take a ride with them as opposed to getting a ride from the prison officials to get on the train,” said Mount Hope town police Chief Paul Rickard.

15 years isn't a short amount of time. If he snitched, 3-7 years would be more optimal. Unless what he did was so heinous that it was the only deal he could cut...

Plausible. He must not have known what was going down when he got into the car.
