CEAC status updates BEFORE interview - London

Hi All - I was wondering if anyone knows about the CEAC status updates BEFORE the interview. What triggers an update in the system?

Is it:

1.Mailing of packet-3

2. Receipt of medical exam results, and

3. Mailing of packet-4

OR, are there additional events on top of these three that trigger an update, like when you submit the DS-160, and when you submit the 'applicant readiness' form as well?

Needless to say, I'm obsessively checking my status every ten minutes. But if I know what and when to expect, it might help me cool off a bit.

Mine changed for all those three you have listed.

I dont think I noticed it changing for completing the DS160 or the readiness form.

Much like you I am checking my status most days - getting bored waiting for it to be issued.

I issued a query via the 'contact us' form online and the day that they replied to me my CEAC status updated too.

In a similar situation:

Had my medical on the 03/10 - updated on 08/10 - presuming that's the results reaching the embassy.

Now waiting for another update - which I would presume would be the interview letter being sent.

I was hoping it would update today due to it being a week since the medical - but maybe it will be Monday?

The case updates every time someone at the Embassy handles your case. It could be for any of the reasons you have listed in no particular order. My case updated 4 times before my interview and I submitted the DS-160 and readiness form within minutes of each other.

There was an update on mine just this minute!

No idea what it really means, but I'm guessing it must be the packet-3 being mailed. My case only got to the embassy yesterday morning, so that would seem logical. If there was a logic to these things, that is.

What would it take for the computer to just add a little note below the update, telling us what on earth the update was -- and just put me out of my misery!? Haha

Well.....if the 07/10 one was your interview letter, you should have received it by now? Assuming you're somewhere on the mainland of UK...

Mine was updated on 30th September (pretty sure they received the medical exam results then)

Then updated on the 9th October (which was when they sent out packet 4).

It wasn't updated in between but some people's are!

Mine was updated again today. So altogether there were 4 updates:

9th october

10th October

15th October

16th October

And I haven't received ANYTHING from them by way of post yet. No Packet-3, no packet 4 -- nor packet 3.5 like one of the members here seems to have received.

They already have all they need from me - medical, ds-160 and applicant readiness.

God knows what's going on...............

You had an update on the 13th? That was Columbus Day, when the embassy was shut.

My apologies, it ws the 9th 10th 14th and 15th

It was touched 4 times since the medical and wasn't today. I thought one was the 13th but that would be incredibly unlikely given i was a holiday.

As someone pointed out already (that was pretty ignored)

Updates are just when your case has been touched.

This could range from moving your file, checking details, adding paperwork, sending letters, updating information.. etc etc.

Just because it updates does not mean something has been sent to you.

Constantly checking updates will drive you INSANE.

You will never know for sure what those updates are.

It's 9 days since they received my case, and the postman's just been and gone. Nothing yet. No Packet-3 even :(
