Application pending with NVC. Please help

Hello Everyone,

My brother's I-130 was approved in 2010 and his case is currently pending with NVC. Visa Petition is likely to become current within 6 to 10 months, however no response has been received so far from NVC. I am little concerned regarding the status on the case and when will be likely to hear from NVC for the next steps? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

What family category is your brother in? Did you petition him? What's his PD?

Hi,

I filed for my son in the F2B category and his PD is 20 July 2008. We have not yet heard from NVC and I believe that the petitioner and beneficiary will be contacted only when the PD is about to become current. I expect to get our letters within the next few months as 1 Jan 2008 is the current PD cut-off as of today. You may have to wait for several months more to hear from NVC.

By the way, anyone with Jan-June 2008 PD on this forum? Please let us know if you have been contacted by NVC.

NVC will notify you when your case becomes current or is likely to become current within a year, and will ask you to begin next steps in processing your approved petition.

I'm not really sure how it works. I think they only do it when they know for sure that the PD will be current, like last year. But then again look at what happened, it was current for a few months then retrogressed. I know a few people on F2A, who haven't gotten called yet either.

Right now F2B for India is Jan 2008, so it looks like another year before your brother is called.

Does it mean that NVC will contact me very soon? PD is 9th December, 2013 my category is F2a given the considered time frame I should be expecting a mail from them btw now and January?.

I cant answer if they will contact you as I am not clear on that. but you should be able to access the system soon. And I will just try logging in to ceac every firstweek of the month to see if its opened. i just filed my N400 so i am hoping that goesby fast as well.
