Anyone missing vaccinations from St Lukes?

Hello,

When I Sister-in-Law had her medical she was told they, St. Likes, was 'out' of 2 of her required vaccinations and that she should call back on Oct 9th.

So she did.

And was told that they only had one of them in stock at this time and she could schedule a time to come back and get that one.

I do not see any others commenting that they were missing any vaccinations from their medicals...

Any ideas on what is going on?

She was told that she could get them here in the US and while that is true, we paid for them there at St.Lukes and getting them here in the US will be pretty pricy...

Is it normal to be 'out' of meds like this?

My fiancee was told the same thing. Come back a certain date for the other shot. We wil just have it done once she gets in the USA. It seems that on aregular basis there is some type of vaccination not available at St. Lukes.

Well it's not normal but in St. Lukes yeah it is pretty normal since they ran out of stock most of the time. It happened to me and went back there for the vaccination and paid 500 pesos additional for the pregnancy test since it was needed for the remaining vaccine and because my pregnancy test then was already expired. Tell her to call St. Lukes if the vaccine is already available and make an appointment for the vaccination. :)

Thanks for the info!

She did call and setup an appointment but only for one of the 2 that she was missing as that 2nd one was still 'out of stock'...

Does anyone know if she will be required to get that missing shot before she can be issued a green card?

Doubt she will be required to get the shot as the green card will be issued as soon as she clears POE (and the fee paid)

Maybe... she has already received a call from the embassy about getting the shots in the US...

Yeah, quite common. They did that to my wife, did not have varicella and she came here without it.

But she had chicken pox as a child, so the Civil Surgeon here sent her for a Titers test, and it came back varicella immune.

On a K-1 you can go to the US without any shots, but you then need them here to apply for your Green Card. My wife's Civil SUrgeon, as I wrote above, sent her for a Titers test, which is a blood test to determine if any missing shots are really necessary. The only one she was missing was varicella, and she was already immume because of childhoold chicken pox.

It may well be that you are immune from measles or other diseases because you had them as a child. The TIters will sorr that out. The test was not too bad moneywise, only $72, about half of what a varicella shot would have cost me, and if you get out of two or more shots by using TIters, you save much more.
