Well I have been with my husband now for over 3 years so not much we donnot know about each other, so our conversations are of course not any deep 'getting to know you' type.

We talk via our mobiles, IM chatwith voice and web, we write each other letters(snail mail) just to mix it up abit. (We did this more better we got married) Of course we both try not to call since it is really expensive, but when something important comes up we call (and on holidays) This way we *try* stay out of trouble with bills.

We both PCs and Internet but we donnot leave our PCs on all day (I have heard some ppl do this)

Um, I donnot report every single move I make (via IMs or EMails) LOLOL

We spent maybe about 1-2 hours talking daily but probably more on the average of every other day. Sometimes we have to set áppointments' to talk with the time difference and schedules. But we both know each other's schedule so most times we just look in on Yahoo to see if the other is there.

Sometimes i feel i want to stay talking to him all day, but of course we dont we have lives and responsiblites...and if we did im sure we would get bored after a while.

I enjoy the little hello i love you emails he sents me with ecards, funny jokes, music and video clips. That is about all the romance we are able to do with the distance LOL.

We both work on computers all day at work, so I think when we are together (for good) seriously will cut down on the net time. LOL

We have a set routine-

I call him first thing when I wake up in the morning to say good night to him and then when I come home from school he's at work and we can IM for the rest of the night (my time).

Sometimes he has enough time at work to switch on the webcam and we can see each others for a couple of hours while he's at work.

On the weekend we take more time to really spend time with each others on webcam and phone, and really talk about things, whereas during the week it's more like "how was your day, how are you doing goodnight"... :)

Sometimes we send text messages (more when I'm in the US though)- and because we communicate a lot, I think I would get worried if I didn't hear anything for a day.

short history:

2001 - met in Germany

April 2003 - fell in love

Aug 2004 - go to the US for internship

Feb 2005 - both return to Germany

Aug 2006 - getting married

DCF timeline:

09/01/2006 - filed the petition in Frankfurt

09/06/2006 - medical in Frankfurt

09/26/2006 - faxed checklist

10/05/2006 - received interview invite

11/01/2006 - INTERVIEW in Frankfurt - approved!

11/04/2006 - VISA IN HAND!!

12/21/2006 - POE San Francisco and ON TO SEA!

We call each other generally once a week but the connection is usually horrible

Sorry your connection isn't good! We get really good and inexpensive PC to PC phone chat over Yahoo Messenger. Also when I call, I use PC to phone chat using Yahoo Messenger, it is the least expensive I have found. Also great clear connection. It is rare that I use my calling card with landline/mobile; same with him calling me on mobile/landline - rare cuz too expensive.

I see you guys have same time difference as us - only 15 minute difference between India/Nepal. It is hard when it is the middle of the day here and middle of the night there.

With YM PC to PC phone chat what sort of hardware do you need? a webcam with a mic, is that all? Does your guy go to the same cyber cafe each time? I am wondering because K goes to different cyber cafes and I know sometimes he needs to sign up ahead of time for a PC with a webcam - if that is all he needs that might be an option for us - I wonder what the rates are to Nepal? Does he need to have any other software on the PC besides YM? If I initiate the call does he have to pay anything? He doesn't have a credit/debit card so I would need to pay.

Yep, same difference minus those annoying 15 minutes - Nepal has to be different... ;) I would love to chat with him every night but Ke Garne??? :(

For PC to PC chat, all you have to do is download Yahoo Messenger WITH VOICE CHAT (another option is Skype – only used it once myself so am not an expert). If my guy goes to a shop that doesn’t have Yahoo Messenger, he just types in the search window “Yahoo messenger with voice free download” and the site comes up and it takes only a minute or two to download. No other software necessary. It is totally free, no fees, nothing to pay on either side. (Except for his hourly rate in the cyber café, and our monthly Internet connection here.) The computer only needs to have a HEADSET (with mike), that’s all. Web cam not necessary but if the shop has it – use it! (My guy says some shops charge extra hourly rates to use the web cam – bah humbug!)

My guy goes to different cyber cafes too. Best time he says is early morning, as soon as the shop opens. The rest of the day, especially in the evening, the cafes get crowded.

Now, on PC to PC chat, of course both parties have to be sitting at a computer with high speed Internet connection. The other option is called “PC to Phone” chat, and in that, we here in US use a credit card to purchase time on a “Phone Out” option ($5, $10 or $20). You can read about it on Yahoo site. (Type in “Yahoo phone out” in search window.) I bought that and can talk to India very cheaply – they advertise 9 cents a minute but I find it’s cheaper. Using phone out, we put on our computer headset here and dial the number to their landline/mobile. I only use that for urgent messages or to quickly check in. All our long long talks are done free using Yahoo Messenger PC to PC chat.

Thanks for the info - I'm sitting here waiting for him as I am typing here so I will ask him if the computers have headsets. He said something about power cuts these days(seems to be starting earlier this year, usually it's in the spring pre-monsoon period...they use a lot of hydroelectric power so if there wasn't a heavy monsoon the year before then they have pwer cuts to conserve power...), hope we can chat this morning...

Really we send e-mails every day and when one of us is not able to "hear" from the other the day is just not the same. We have to set up times to talk on the phone being as he does not have a phone at his house nor a cellular. And we sometimes are fortunate enough to chat the whole night when he can get access... like for our one year anniversary on the 24th. It was such a sweet gift. Somehow we are able to contiue forward with few phone calls and only really e-mails. Must be love. :luv:

My fiancee and I speak to each other every single day over the phone, and then sometimes we play Diablo II on-line together as well. We also write e-mails back and forth, and at times even communicate through Yahoo.

Basically, we try and "be together" as often as we can, whenever possible. The most difficult thing to do for us is to say goodbye at the end of a visit or vacation. That's literally heart-breaking.

My SO and I talk everyday. Before I go to bed I call, I usually wake him between 5am and 6:30 am every day. There have been a few occasions when I have fell asleep before calling, and when this happens he will flash me and ask whats happened. If I am running late for work and unable to call when I wake, I call him in the afternoon that nwould be dinner time for him.

The weird thing is that in Nigeria most people don't spend a lot of time on a cellular phone call it's very expensive. So if he is running errands, eating at a resteraunt or hanging with friends and we are talking more than 20 minutes. People have accused him and or questioned him of pretending to talk on the phone. A few times I have had a total stranger say hello to me while on the phone with him, just to prove if someone was actully on the other line, and that he was not a pretender talking to himself.:wacko::wacko: I think that's hillarious.:lol:

Prior to our relationship I dont think he was a phone person, I think he originally talked with me for hours to make me happy, and sometimes when I would talk out the entire phone card and then when it finished call again, I think he thought I was mad. But now he flashes me when I don't call him three times a day :dance: the tables have turned.

We also have the same connection problems when he visits the village, while in the village we might speak everyday but briefly.

His typing is very poor and we are both very impatient chatting and im don't work for us, though he speaks perfect Queens English ( better than I do ) he types in Creole to get it over with. It is always a treat to decipher his emails, but since we speak usually a couple of times a day the whole cyper cafe Creole typig thing is unneccessary. :P
