How do you and your SO communicate? How much of your day do you spend communicating with them? Is it too much, just right , not enough? Do you feel you are missing out on *other* things cos of the amount of time you communicate with them? Has your communicate gotten you in trouble? When you communicate are you soley focusing on them, or are you multi-tasking?

Just wondering.

I assume you meant the longest you can go "without" talking to your SO.

We usually chat online at a set time each night and then supplement it with text messages/phonecalls throughout the day.

I can only last one day not talking to him because I'm a worry wort. :)

I don't think there's such a thing as too much talking to him but that's when he's not here. When he's here I'm sure it will calm down a bit.

We talk via 'text' (but not text messages - more like IMs) during the day. At night we try to call each other for at least a few minutes. It's not so much about having deep conversation or having anything in particular to say, but just catching up on each other's lives and how we're doing, how we're feeling. I've gone without talking to him for a long time, but now that it's become a regular thing, I don't think I could go more than a few days without hearing from him. And last but not least... I do think there's an extreme end to everything. I could talk for hours, but probably couldn't spend an entire day doing it, especially not more than a few days in a row.

We live together so we have face-to-face communication, plus we talk through e-mail while he's at work and sometimes we also talk on the phone while he's at work.

I can't go many days without talking to him. If by choice, I wouldn't go a day without talking to him.

There's no such thing as talking too much.

I wish there could be more communication! We usually call or do IM & PC to PC phone/web cam chat every couple of days or so, but it is difficult because he doesn't have a PC at home and has to go to outside shops. When he visits his village, there is no International phone dialing there and no Internet sooo... sometimes a week goes by without communication. :(

I'm the weird one who voted for a week without talking to my SO. I guess I sort of chose randomly; theoretically, I *could* go for an unlimited amount of time not talking to him. For those of you who chose a couple of hours - what exactly would happen to you if you didn't talk to your SO for an entire day?! :o:lol:

me and javed are extremely close. we care about how each other day is going. we like to share with each other special things. its the ONLY way we can keep a marriage going when we dont have the luxury of seeing each other. til you are forced apart 2 years you proble would never understand.

Was not trying to make light of people's separations. Just a bit of clarification on the question. What's the longest you could go before you what? Felt really, really sad? Or had a nervous breakdown? Just me being my literal self...

We're now in the 'live together' category and communicate during the day while I'm at work via text messaging and the occasional phone call. We reserve our deep discussions for evenings when we're settled in and communicate during the day about schedules, to do lists, etc.

When we were apart, I would end my day every day with an email to him about the events of the day (6 hr time difference) so he had that to read when he woke up. He would respond so I'd have an email when I woke up. We spoke almost every morning without fail for at least 30 mins, and then occasionally text throughout the day. We would also Skype when we could in the afternoon/his dinner-bedtime. The regular communication gave us something to look forward to and kept us connected while we were apart. For us, it was perfect. I couldn't have imagined it any other way.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

If I don't have some contact(email/chat/phone) with my Maya every day I'm not happy about it - it used to really worry me when I wouldn't hear from him for a day or two but a couple of times I would check the Nepali news site and there was a banda(strike) or he said there was a power cut... ahhh, Kathmandu... Or like ELW's guy he will go visit his Didi at her village in the Terai where there is no email or mobile coverage and then he will be incommunicado until he gets back to Kat... :( He doesn't have a PC at home either, or a landline, so he has to go to a cybercafe every day to email or chat. We chat on the weekends, morning my time, evening his time...when I am home from work he is fast asleep so we can only chat on the weekends. We call each other generally once a week but the connection is usually horrible(once we are lucky enough to get connected - phoning Nepal is like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, you'll never know what you'll get) and it drives me nuts... Once in a while he will call me from an international calling center but it's expensive for him so it's rare, like once a month... as a matter of fact he just tried to call me 2 hours ago but I was away from my desk... :crying: He left me a sweet message on my voicemail though...poor guy, he hates talking to machines (L)

Hehe I had the same question. I arbitrarily chose a week. But if I knew he was going on a top-secret 2-week expedition, I probably would understand 2 weeks of no communication.
