Hi All,

While filing I-130, we need to provide supporting docs like Parents marriage certificate, Parents birth certificate. But if these docs are not available, we need to provide Affidavits for the same.

Do we need to send in the Original Affidavits or a photocopy of the affidavits?????

Please advise. Please help.

Thanks in advance

What kind of relationship are you petitioning for, child, parent, spouse? I think they require a document from the civil authority stating that a certain document like birth or marriage cert isn't available.

On top of that you need as much secondary evidence as possible like school records, affidavits, church records, etc. The form doesn't seem to specify if they want originals, but I would assume since it's an affidavit it should be the original. They can always print out multiple copies.

This does not constitute legal advice.
