Hi guys!

Had my AOS interview yesterday in San Francisco. Our appointment was at 7.30, but we arrived at 7. The adjudicator called us at about 7.50 am. The process went pretty smoothly, the adjudicator ran through the documents, asked for my passport and EAD, and my wife's passport, confirmed our residence and if we were living together. Overall pretty straightforward as we had all the documents and has multiple proof of living together (joint bank statements, credit cards, tenancy agreements from 2 places we lived together, etc).

She then asked me a set of standard oath questions (e.g. did i belong to the communist party, etc)

Adjudicator asked petitioner 3 questions: 1) Where did we meet, 2) Did she meet my parents and how many times, and 3) Do we have any prior marriages.

She had some issue with our marriage certificate as it didn't state that it was on file with the registrar of deeds, but I had a certified copy from that same registrar that had a raised seal and statement saying it was filed for record. So pro-tip for anyone: GET CERTIFIED COPIES OF YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE. Especially important, and it should be from the recorded of deeds and it should state: "This is a record on file with us" or something to that effect.

I received a text the next morning that said my card was in production.

My wife and I had our interview today at the Detroit USCIS office. The Field Office Director was very nice as the package was in order. We had all our documents ready as stated on the interview notice, but she only required a few such as updated tax forms and all the supporting information (insurance, bank accounts, photos, etc.). We received all the standard questions, how did we meet, what was our relationship timeline, as well as all the I-485 yes/no questions. Overall, everything went well, but we were given a form stating "Your case is being held for review". She explained to us that the package looked fine, and she didn't think there would be any issues, but she wants to tak more time to review all the documents (understandable considering the amount of information). So we thanked her and left with out fingers still crossed.

My wife is certainly happy this step is over.

Good luck to everyone else.

Hello to all October filers! :-)

I haven't written so far, but today I got some really good news and I really do want to share it with you, because I know how hard is the whole process especially when you do not know how long you should wait.

I am adjusting my status from B1. We filed our documents in mid October in Chicago, IL and our firs receipt is from 17 October. Exactly 3 months later I received my EAD.

Last month I called the USCIS to get some more information on how things are going and should we expect to hear something from them soon. The guy I spoke to told me that our office (Chicago) is currently processing documents from April 2014 and I felt devastated. Anyway I got over the fact that I should way at least 6 more months.

You can imagine my surprise when today I received an email that we are scheduled for an interview in mid April!!!!
